Divorced CEO's Forgotten Wife Strikes Back (Riley and Bryce) novel Chapter 43

**TITLE: Dreams Refuse Gravity by Leo Arden Knox**

**Chapter 43: I’m Getting a Divorce**

The air in the room was thick with disbelief as both Riley and Lara turned to face Vince, their expressions a mixture of shock and concern. It was as if the very ground beneath them had shifted. After all, Vince was unaware of Riley’s plans to end her marriage, a secret she had kept close to her chest.

Vince’s eyes narrowed, his voice low and strained as he confronted her. “Don’t tell me you’re still staying with him. You really love Bryce that much? Enough to let him run around with another woman while his family treats you like trash?” Each word dripped with disbelief and anger, reflecting his protective instincts.

Riley remained silent, her eyes cast downward, which only fueled Vince’s frustration further. “What is it about Bryce that makes you cling to him? He’s not the only man in the world, you know. A woman like you—he doesn’t deserve you. Should I march over there and make him sign those divorce papers myself?” His fists clenched, the tension palpable.

“I’m going to divorce him,” Riley finally said, her voice steady yet tinged with a hint of uncertainty.

Instantly, the storm of anger on Vince’s face dissipated, replaced by a flicker of hope.

“Yeah, I’m getting that divorce,” Riley continued, glancing at her right ring finger, where the wedding band had already been removed, a symbol of her decision.

“You’re right—there’s nothing special about Bryce. So obviously, I’m not going to miss him,” she added softly, her voice barely above a whisper. Each word felt like a weight lifting off her shoulders.

Every time Bryce had broken her heart, every disappointment had chipped away at the love she once held for him. Now? It was a total flatline; the emotional connection had vanished completely.

Vince’s demeanor shifted dramatically, his expression brightening. “Well, that settles it then. I can get you the best legal team in the city to handle your divorce,” he offered eagerly, his enthusiasm palpable.

“Thanks, but I’ve got this covered,” Riley replied, her resolve firm.

Vince’s brow furrowed in concern. “What are you still waiting for?”

“I’m not waiting for anything. I just don’t want to drag this divorce out forever.” Riley understood all too well that court proceedings could stretch for months, filled with legal battles that would only add to her stress. “If things get complicated and I need help, I’ll call you,” she assured him, hoping to quell his worries.

Vince’s expression softened, his concern giving way to understanding. “Alright, I’ll be waiting for the good news,” he said, a hint of a smile returning to his face.

After dinner, Riley made her way to the police station to give her statement about the recent events. Lara and Vince insisted on accompanying her, their support unwavering. Since Lara had witnessed everything at the party, she also provided her own account to the authorities.

The police filled Riley in on the current status of the situation. Claire and Amanda were currently in holding cells, and the two men who had attempted to attack Riley had already confessed. They revealed that Claire and Amanda had orchestrated the entire scheme, pulling the strings from behind the scenes.

As for Bella, luck was on her side. The police lacked sufficient evidence against her, so they merely took her statement and allowed her to walk free.

Stepping out of the police station, Riley took a deep breath and reached for her phone to call a cab.

“Let me drive you home,” Vince offered, his tone firm yet gentle.

“I’ll just grab a taxi. It’s easier that way, and we’ve already taken up too much of your time today,” Riley replied, attempting to dismiss his offer.

“I’m driving you,” Vince insisted, a playful challenge in his voice. “Unless you can’t stand me and don’t want me taking you home?”
