**TITLE: Dreams Refuse Gravity by Leo Arden Knox**
**Chapter 83: Commotion**
What would her ancestors think, the proud lineage of her grandparents and parents, if they were aware that their own descendant couldn’t even cross the threshold of the memorial hall? The thought gnawed at Riley, filling her with a mixture of dread and determination.
“Get lost already!” Britney sneered, her voice dripping with disdain, as she and the other affluent kids circled around Riley like vultures.
Wren stood off to the side, her eyes narrowed in contempt. She relished the opportunity to demonstrate the vast chasm that separated her from Riley, eager to make her feel the weight of humiliation.
“Hurry up and get rid of her! Great-grandfather is inside the memorial hall today. If you guys disturb him, you’ll all be in big trouble!” Wren’s voice cut through the air, laced with urgency and authority.
In an instant, the crowd surged forward, a wave of privilege and entitlement crashing against Riley.
One of the boys, desperate to win Wren’s favor, lunged at Riley with a cocky grin, his fist poised to strike.
But Riley, clutching the urn tightly against her chest, was ready. With a swift, practiced motion, she executed a clean kick that sent the boy sprawling to the ground.
Everyone froze, their jaws dropping in disbelief. It was as if time had momentarily paused; nobody expected Riley to take down the big guy with such effortless grace.
“You’re asking for it!” he growled, embarrassment and rage igniting his features as he clambered back to his feet, swinging his fist at her with renewed ferocity.
Riley sidestepped nimbly, her heart pounding but her focus unwavering. She stepped onto the man’s back, pinning him to the ground with a determination that surprised even herself.
With one foot firmly planted on him, she felt a surge of power. The other security guards exchanged panicked glances, their confidence wavering as they realized the strength of the girl beneath their noses.
Riley inhaled deeply, grounding herself in the moment. With the urn, adorned with the vibrant colors of the national flag, held high, she called out, her voice echoing with fervor, “Dear ancestors, your unfilial descendant Riley from the fifth branch of the Anderson family stands before you today.”
“I bring with me the spirits of my late father, Dominic Anderson, and my late mother, Bianca Anderson, to the Anderson family’s memorial hall. I sincerely beseech all clan members to open the door!”
The crowd fell silent, shock rippling through them, particularly Wren, whose expression morphed from contempt to disbelief.
Riley wasn’t merely shouting into the void; her voice carried down the street, drawing the attention of passersby who halted in their tracks, captivated by the unfolding drama.
“Get her out of here! Don’t let her make a scene at the door. Do you want Great-grandpa to witness this disgrace?” Wren barked at the guards, her voice rising in panic.
