Chapter 38 Lila’s Dark Scheme
“Got it.” Quinn replied.
She checked her phone, confirmed the time and location, then locked the screen.

Quinn arrived at the restaurant alone. Kieran had planned to come with her, but Reginald had called him out unexpectedly.
It was just a work meeting. She could handle it on her own. She didn’t need anyone else there.
She waited a few minutes before Derek Ford, her potential partner, arrived.
Her projects and patents aligned perfectly with Ford Group’s vision. She hoped to build a long–term partnership with him.
That’s why she’d taken this meeting so seriously–even picking the restaurant herself.
“Mr. Ford. I’m Quinn Hart. It’s a pleasure to meet you,” she said confidently, extending her hand.
“Miss Hart, I’ve heard great things about you,” Derek replied warmly, shaking her hand. He didn’t let go right away. “Your patents are impressive. We’re developing similar tech, and your proposals fit our needs perfectly. Let’s sit and talk–over drinks.”
O
His gaze lingered on her, making her uncomfortable.
Thankfully, Mia had done her research. She’d warned Quinn beforehand: Derek was talented, and his company was thriving. But he had a major flaw–he was a womanizer. She needed to be careful around him.
Mia had offered to come along, but Quinn had insisted she could manage alone.
That’s why she’d dressed conservatively today. She pulled her hand back gently, smiling politely. “Please, have a seat, Mr. Ford.”
Once he sat down, she subtly pulled her chair back–creating more distance between them.
“Miss Hart, you might not know this about me,” Derek said, pouring wine into her glass. “I like to loosen up with a few drinks before talking business. When I’m happy, deals tend to happen smoothly.”
Quinn stood up quickly. “Allow me, Mr. Ford,” she said, taking the bottle from him.
Derek grinned, clearly enjoying the attention from a beautiful woman.
“Cheers, Miss Hart!” he said, raising his glass.
Quinn picked up her own glass, smiling calmly. “Mr. Ford, I should be the one toasting you,” she said. “Thank you for giving me this opportunity. Here’s to a successful partnership–may it be a great one!”
