Don't Mess with the Girl with Candy novel Chapter 1030

"Needles?"

The referee stared at the row of razor-sharp silver metal, his eye twitching as a wave of dread washed over him.

"Don't worry, sir, I'm a professional." Juniper crouched down with exaggerated slowness, plucking the longest, thickest needle from the case. She rolled it delicately between her fingers and flashed a brilliant smile. "I guarantee she'll wake up."

"Don't do anything crazy."

The referee wasn't about to let a student perform experimental acupuncture on a university board member's only daughter. "Someone hurry and get the campus doctor! What if she's having a heart attack?!"

"You already beat her half to death, and now you want to stab her?! You're a psycho, Juniper!"

"She's just trying to torture her while she's down!"

"Waving around a bunch of stupid needles—who do you think you are, a miracle worker?!"

Anyone in the medical department knew the legends of the miraculous, elusive Dr. Nocturne and his legendary medical techniques.

"Move out of the way, I know CPR!"

The premed students surged forward, shouting and pointing fingers at Juniper.

"If she dies, it's on me."

Juniper ignored them, twirling the needle dangerously close to Sheryl's face. "I just need to insert one needle directly into her forehead, one into her temple, and one straight into her philtrum. Three seconds, and she'll be wide awake."

"However..."

Juniper cleared her throat, her voice carrying easily over the panic. "These needles go deep. It's going to hurt like hell. And there might be some minor side effects... like permanent facial paralysis. Crooked mouth, slanted eyes, that sort of thing."

As she spoke, she lowered the tip of the needle until it was hovering a millimeter above Sheryl’s forehead, mimicking a harsh downward thrust.

With every fraction of an inch the needle moved closer, Sheryl’s eyelashes fluttered violently.

Her hands, supposedly limp at her sides, curled into white-knuckled fists.

"Stop it, Juniper!"

Just as the premed students lunged forward to physically drag Juniper away, the "unconscious" Sheryl suddenly let out a bloodcurdling shriek.

She scrambled backward, crawling frantically across the ground as if Juniper were the Grim Reaper himself, before springing to her feet and sprinting ten yards away.

She looked incredibly energetic for someone who had just suffered a life-threatening collapse.

"Yeah, absolutely."

The girls who had been battered by Sheryl earlier added loudly. "If she's getting a full medical checkup, we need one too."

"Our injuries are way worse than hers."

One of the girls pointed to a cut near her eye that was still bleeding.

Sheryl had aimed to permanently disfigure them with zero hesitation.

Juniper, on the other hand, had held back enough to just cause painful bruises.

Listening to the mocking voices closing in on her from all sides, Sheryl felt her chest tighten so hard she couldn't breathe.

"This isn't over, Juniper."

Throwing down her final, pathetic threat, Sheryl spun on her heel and stormed off the court in total disgrace.

"Are you guys leaving too?" Juniper called out lazily, delivering the final blow to the stunned premeds. "You couldn't even tell the difference between a real faint and a fake one. What exactly are they teaching you over there?"
