Don't Mess with the Girl with Candy novel Chapter 1062

Shanley's lips pressed together, his displeasure written all over his face.

"Did I say something wrong?" Juniper's clear voice rang out slowly, a low chuckle escaping her throat. "Are you saying my sister isn't pretty?"

Shanley looked down at her, a faint, captivating smirk playing on his thin lips. "You were complimenting Ms. Quill just now?"

"What else? Did you think I was complimenting Channing?"

Juniper's eyes twinkled as she feigned seriousness. "He's nowhere near as handsome as you!"

Shanley's lips curled up, his expression instantly brightening.

Little rascal. She was just using his affection to tease him relentlessly.

"Kurt is here," Juniper pointed out, and Shanley instinctively looked back.

Kurt Schwartz stepped out of his car and headed straight for them.

"What are you doing here?" Shanley held Juniper's hand, his gentle demeanor vanishing, replaced by a stern tone and expression.

"Picking up our boss." Kurt jerked his chin toward Ebony Fox.

Ebony Fox was busy talking to Jimmie Tate and couldn't be bothered with him.

"You're quite eager," Shanley said, giving him a long, meaningful look, his voice hoarse.

"It's only right." Kurt forced a smile. "Ebony Fox has taught me a lot recently; I should repay her."

Shanley pursed his lips and stayed silent. Honestly, he just couldn't be bothered to expose him.

"Oh." Juniper didn't seem to notice Kurt's little crush. Treating him purely like a driver, she said calmly, "Just call her Ebony Fox."

In her mind, Ebony Fox was a strong, independent woman whom no man was worthy of. She certainly didn't pay attention to any men.

Let alone Kurt. He was just the weakling; Ebony Fox wouldn't even give him the time of day.

"Alright." Kurt waved and eagerly trotted over to Ebony Fox.

But—he volunteered to do it. What did that have to do with her? If he wanted to stick around her, he had to play by her rules.

Otherwise, he could get lost.

Ebony Fox crossed her arms and closed her eyes, trying to ignore the person beside her.

But sometimes, the harder you try to ignore something, the more it plays on a loop in your mind.

How annoying!

After the two left, only Juniper, Shanley, and Jimmie remained.

"Jimmie, is anyone picking you up?" Shanley asked purposefully, pulling Juniper toward his car. "Do you want us to drop you off?"

Standing all by himself, Jimmie looked somewhat like a lonely bachelor. It was quite pitiful.
