Don't Mess with the Girl with Candy novel Chapter 1099

Juniper sat up straight, completely losing her temper, and unleashed a barrage of insults. "Listen, you old bastard, the only reason I even considered working with you was for the payout. Do not push your luck."

"You paid me, I did the job. The base is ash, and you got your formula."

"The transaction is officially complete. Do not contact me again."

With that, she hung up again and immediately blocked his number. She then messaged Luella, explicitly ordering her to cut all ties with Sanctum Holdings.

If she didn't put this guy in his place, he'd genuinely think he owned the world.

"Let's sleep." Having handled the nuisance, Juniper tossed her phone aside, laced her fingers with Shanley's, and closed her eyes in pure satisfaction.

"I mean, I could fake my death. It's not entirely off the table," Shanley said softly, pressing a kiss to her forehead.

"He's a piece of trash. He doesn't deserve the effort of you faking your death." Juniper kept her eyes shut, her gorgeous face twisted into a fierce scowl, looking exactly like a feral kitten ready to draw blood.

She still hadn't settled the score with him for making her blow up the base. That son of a bitch! He had it coming.

"Heh."

Shanley laughed under his breath. He pulled her a little closer, rubbing his nose affectionately against hers, his voice dropping into a dark, smoky register. "The only person who deserves the power to end me... is you."

"Yeah, yeah." Juniper let out a massive yawn, completely exhausted. "Sleep."

"Alright, sleep."

Shanley couldn't resist pressing one last kiss to her lips. He switched off the bedside lamp. Guided only by the faint silver moonlight spilling through the window, he lay there, quietly watching her.

Her body was warm against his, and for a moment, his chest felt overwhelmingly full.

Sanctum Holdings? This organization had crossed too many lines. They could not be allowed to exist any longer.

...

Meanwhile, on Wraithfall Mountain.

Staring at the screen indicating his number had been blocked, Corvus flew into a rage and violently smashed his phone against the wall.

That wretched brat! Barely out of her teens, and her temper was explosive.

"What's the status on Celine Sherwin?" Corvus demanded coldly.

"Sir, we've made progress."

"I was dealing with something else at the time..." Warren was choking on his own guilt. "I'm so sorry. I failed to protect her."

Juniper ground her teeth together so hard her jaw ached. It felt like her heart was about to rip out of her chest.

Her sister was gone.

"We've searched all of Liberty Island. There's not a single trace of her."

As he finished, Warren's voice shook violently, overwhelmed by fear. "Juniper, do you think it was Sanctum Holdings?"

Recently, they were the only ones aggressively trying to contact Celine for a partnership.

Juniper took a jagged breath, her mind racing in absolute chaos.

Sanctum Holdings? They had contacted Celine before because they wanted the rare medicinal herbs in her garden. They wanted her expertise in cultivating them.

But now, the garden was burned to ashes. Which meant their ultimate target wasn't the herbs at all.

If that was true, why did Sanctum Holdings want Celine?
