Don't Mess with the Girl with Candy novel Chapter 1106

"I'm not afraid!" Celine lifted her pale face, offering a brave, faint smile. "I'm really not, Mom."

"But..." Theia looked at her stomach, her heart breaking. "You're pregnant. You're carrying a life inside you."

"If I'm brave, my baby will be too." Celine gently rubbed her belly. At nearly four months, the bump was noticeable. A tiny life was growing strong inside her. If the baby knew they were saving the family, he would gladly face this with her.

"Don't be afraid," Theia whispered, tenderly stroking Celine's cheek, forcing a smile. "I won't let him hurt you."

Celine simply smiled, staying silent. A few moments ago, she might have held out hope for survival. But now... she glanced at the reinforced concrete walls and the sliver of hazy daylight filtering through a high vent. She had already made peace with her fate.

Before, Juniper and the others had risked everything to save her. Now, it was her turn to protect them.

Just as they were deep in conversation, the iron door swung open.

"Dr. Sommers," Gino said flatly. "Visiting hours are over. The Boss wants her brought back."

"Where is Corvus?" Theia shot to her feet, shielding Celine behind her, her eyes flashing with a protective, feral intensity. "Bring him here! I demand to see him!"

"The Boss declines," Gino replied smoothly. "He noted that you are just as clever as your daughter in knowing exactly what to say—and what to hide. He gained absolutely zero useful intel, and he is extremely displeased."

"Tell him to come down here!" Theia gripped Celine's hand, her voice cracking with desperation as she blocked the guards. "If you want to take her, you'll have to kill me first!"

"Yes, sir." Several imposing men lunged forward simultaneously.

Theia's expression hardened. Fists clenched, she fought back fiercely. Though her combat skills had dulled from years of captivity, muscle memory kicked in, allowing her to fend off the initial assault. But she was outnumbered by heavily muscled men in their prime, and she was physically exhausted from being forced to run lab experiments through the night. It didn't take long for them to overpower her.

"Celine!" As she watched her daughter being dragged away, tears streamed down Theia's face. "Corvus, if you touch a hair on her head, I will kill you!"

"Mom..." Celine looked back, her eyes red, wanting to say more, but the guards hauled her out into the corridor.

Theia lunged after them, but the heavy door slammed shut in her face. All she could do was throw herself against the cold metal, pounding on it with all her strength. The echoing thuds rang hollowly throughout the bunker.
