Don't Mess with the Girl with Candy novel Chapter 1110

"Where?" Gino pressed, leaning in. "How many? Where are they?!"

"Dancing on your grave," Celine spat, her voice dripping with venom. "Why don't you drop dead and go find them?!"

Before he could react, she lunged at him like a wild animal, her hands locking onto his throat as she let out a hysterical laugh. "You want them? Wait for your next life!"

"Urgh!" Gino coughed. He hadn't expected the girl to be this feral, actually trying to strangle him with what little strength she had left.

Thud. He shoved her back effortlessly, sending her crashing to the floor. Almost instantly, a sharp, terrifying pain began to bloom across her abdomen.

"Lock her up." Gino wanted nothing more than to beat her senseless, but without the Boss's explicit permission, he didn't dare.

"Yes, sir." The guards hauled Celine off the floor and threw her onto the bed. The iron door was sealed shut.

As an added punishment, Gino hit a switch on the wall. The heavy steel shutters over the high vent slammed shut. The last sliver of hazy daylight was extinguished. The cell was plunged into absolute, suffocating darkness.

Celine was deeply terrified of the dark. Now, she was so paralyzed with fear she didn't even dare to open her eyes.

It's going to be okay. She repeated the mantra desperately in her head. Juniper and Warren will find this place. They'll come for us.

And if they were too late... at least her baby would be with her. She wouldn't have to walk into the afterlife alone.

"Baby," Celine whimpered, clutching her aching stomach, tears sliding down her cheeks. "Don't be afraid. No matter what happens, Mommy's right here."

Meanwhile, on Liberty Island.

The man who had abducted Celine had been caught. It was one of Warren's own lieutenants. The man had racked up catastrophic gambling debts and had sold them out to Sanctum Holdings.

"They only told me to drop her at the drop point. I swear I don't know anything else!" The man was kneeling on the floor, his face drained of blood, bashing his forehead against the marble until it cracked open. "Boss, I was out of my mind! Please, spare my life!"

Warren stood there in a rumpled shirt, his hair a mess, looking hollowed out. Slowly, he opened a drawer and pulled out a handgun.

"Hold on," Juniper's voice cut through the tension.

Juniper looked down at him. Eventually, she opened her mouth, letting him coax her into finishing more than half the bowl.

"Do you want more?" Just as Shanley asked, a chaotic flurry of footsteps erupted from the entrance.

Jimmie, Harold, Melvin, Ebony Fox, and Coralie. All five of them stormed into the hall, their faces thunderous, their strides radiating pure aggression.

Watching them approach, Warren slowly pulled a second gun from his desk and set it on the tabletop. He was ready to take a bullet from each of them.

"Oh? Ready to blow your brains out to apologize?" Melvin sneered viciously. "You'd better stay alive until we get my sister back."

Warren clamped his jaw shut, unable to argue.

"That's enough, Melvin," Jimmie barked, his eyes dark with suppressed fury. "Aren't things messy enough?" Even though Jimmie was enraged that Warren had let someone slip past his defenses and take Celine, he knew it wasn't intentional. No one was more devastated by Celine's kidnapping than her own husband.

Melvin ground his teeth together, ultimately swallowing the rest of his insults. He followed Jimmie over to where Juniper was sitting.
