"Uh..." Luella went silent for a few seconds before asking tentatively, "Did Shanley cheat on you or something?"

"Luella." Juniper leaned against Shanley's chest, her voice breaking as she spoke into the phone. "I found my mom and dad."

"So you're going to fake a partnership with Corvus to rescue your parents?" Luella asked.

"Yes," Juniper replied. "Just do exactly as I say. Leave the rest to me."

"Got it." Luella swallowed hard. She hesitated for a few seconds before asking, "Hey, who's more important to you? That fox Shanley, or your family?"

Hearing this, Shanley lowered his eyes, his gaze fixed on Juniper's face.

Juniper bit her lip and answered slowly, "My family, of course."

Shanley's heart suddenly went cold. But before the disappointment could settle, he heard her finish the thought.

"Because Shanley *is* my family."

Shanley let out a long breath. With those words, he would gladly hand his life over to her.

As the guard left, Gino hurried into the room. "Sir, Specter from Subterra Vanguard just caved."

Corvus looked at him, his aged eyes narrowing.

"Subterra Vanguard said they agree to your previous terms for the partnership," Gino reported.

"Why the sudden change of heart?" Corvus found it odd. "Specter isn't exactly the compromising type." The memory of her arrogant attitude during their last meeting was still fresh in his mind.

"Word on the street is that Sigma Network retaliated and stole a massive chunk of their market. Subterra Vanguard lost billions," Gino explained smoothly. "They were going to have to deal with Sigma Network sooner or later anyway. Specter probably figures she can do you a favor while she's at it."
