Don't Mess with the Girl with Candy novel Chapter 1152

"Juniper?"

Hearing no sound from Juniper, Miranda asked softly, "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine."

It's just that her heart was beating a little fast.

"I'm heading back now," Juniper said, pursing her lips. "Tell him to stop making a fuss."

"Okay, okay," Miranda agreed vigorously, passing Juniper's words verbatim to Shanley.

Sure enough.

After hearing his 'girlfriend's' order, Shanley's mouth was instantly glued shut.

He didn't dare move an inch.

His unauthorized change of plans had probably pissed her off.

He definitely didn't dare provoke her further.

--

The hospital.

Juniper took the elevator straight to Shanley's room.

When she reached the door.

She saw a bunch of doctors in white coats gathered around his bed, chattering away with questions.

"Mr. Schwartz, are you having trouble breathing?"

Shanley kept his mouth shut, saying nothing.

"Mr. Schwartz, does your head hurt? Are you experiencing any dizziness?" a doctor pressed.

Shanley remained silent.

"Mr. Schwartz..."

No matter what the doctors asked, Shanley stayed completely silent.

"Shanley, if you don't speak, how are the doctors supposed to diagnose you?" Miranda frowned, speaking in exasperation. "Juniper just told you to stop making a fuss, not to go mute!"

Shanley gave his mother a weak look, then slowly closed his eyes.

Playing dead.

To him, Juniper's words were absolute law.

Without her permission, no one could force him to speak.

Having witnessed the whole scene, Juniper furrowed her brow and pushed the door open.

The room suddenly grew quiet.

Juniper closed the door and tossed her jacket onto the sofa.

She rolled up her sleeves, revealing her fair arms. With her long hair pinned up and her porcelain complexion, she looked strikingly beautiful.

She ignored the man in the bed and walked straight into the bathroom.

Shanley's eyes followed her movements, realizing she hadn't looked at him once.

Not even a single glance.

She was truly angry.

Panic set in. Shanley struggled to sit up, only to find he couldn't move at all.

Damn it.

Why did that car rear-end him so hard?

A moment later.

The sound of running water in the bathroom stopped. Juniper returned to the bed holding an apple.

She pulled up a chair, sat down, and lazily began peeling the fruit with a knife.

Her expression was calm and indifferent, like the eerie stillness before a storm.
