Don't Mess with the Girl with Candy novel Chapter 1224

Just as Juniper finished speaking, Ebony Fox pushed the door open and happened to overhear their conversation.

"My body is perfectly fine."

Noticing Ebony Fox's strange, appraising look, Kurt immediately stood up straight, his expression serious and earnest. "If I wasn't afraid of my brother beating me up, Juniper, I'd show you my eight-pack abs."

He had just gotten them toned; they were fresh out of the oven.

"What kind of nonsense are you spouting?" Ebony Fox kicked him.

Kurt easily dodged it, grinning at her. "Alright, I'll go make some food for you guys."

"Vinegar-Sautéed Matchstick Potatoes, Cajun-Style Poached Beef, and some greens," Ebony Fox ordered familiarly.

"I'll make you a Kelp Consommé too."

"Sure."

The two bantered back and forth with incredible naturalness.

Juniper watched them quietly, feeling that the scene was almost too harmonious.

Especially Ebony Fox. Her attitude toward Kurt had improved significantly.

"Alright, you guys rest for a bit. Food will be ready soon," Kurt said before heading off.

"Ebony Fox, has Kurt been causing you trouble?" Juniper asked curiously.

"Minor annoyances." Ebony Fox thought about it and raised an eyebrow. "Since he can cook, I'll let it slide."

"Oh."

Juniper wanted to ask more but didn't know how to phrase it.

"That old fox is here. He's waiting for you outside," Ebony Fox pointed out.

Juniper walked out to the lounge.

Shanley was dressed in a crisp suit, his back facing her as he stood on the balcony, talking on his phone.

"Let me know immediately if you hear anything."

The sunlight spilled over him, casting a golden glow that felt incredibly warm.

Juniper's restless mood settled down significantly.

Hanging up the phone, Shanley turned and walked over, pulling her to the sofa to sit down.

He grabbed a warm towel and gently wiped the sweat off her palms.

"How was Taekwondo today? Did you learn anything new?" Shanley asked curiously.

"Kurt said he wanted to show me his eight-pack abs."

"The company has nothing pressing today, and Mr. Blackwood's condition is stable."

Shanley crouched in front of her, his voice incredibly soft. "A new dessert shop opened on Westwind Avenue. Want me to take you there to try it out?"

Juniper looked up, staring lazily at the man.

She didn't react.

"There's also that candy store. They released a new flavor you haven't tried yet."

Shanley racked his brain for ideas. "I'll take you out to have some fun, okay?"

She had been so depressed lately, he was worried it would take a toll on her health.

"Why aren't you saying anything?"

Shanley frowned, his concern deepening. "Are you feeling unwell? Hmm?"

Juniper pursed her lips. After a few seconds, she spoke slowly, "Shanley, let's do it."

She had read about it online.

Letting out physical frustration was the best way to forget about terrible things.

Do it?
