Don't Mess with the Girl with Candy novel Chapter 1228

"Theia..." Corvus stared in disbelief at his hand clutched in hers.

"Corvus, are we really leaving tomorrow?"

Theia leaned against the sofa, her cheeks flushed, perfectly mimicking a tipsy state.

"Yes."

Seeing how drunk she looked, Corvus took the opportunity to sit beside her. "If nothing goes wrong, Nadia will finish the research before dawn. We'll leave on a helicopter first thing tomorrow morning."

"Oh."

Theia smiled, speaking slowly. "Where to?"

"Albia Country."

Corvus answered without hesitation, patiently explaining. "The top billionaires in Albia Country are incredibly interested in gene modification. They've sponsored me with a massive amount of funding along the way."

"Once this research is complete and I hand over the results, I'll have more wealth than I could ever spend."

Corvus grew more excited the more he spoke, gripping Theia's hand. "We'll be completely free then. I can give you anything you want."

"Really?"

Theia lifted her eyes, staring at him with a half-smile. "You can give me anything I want?"

"Of course."

"Your life—will you give me that?" Theia bared her teeth, a crisp, mocking laugh bubbling from her throat.

Corvus froze.

Before he could react, the seemingly intoxicated Theia suddenly lunged and hugged him tightly.

Corvus froze again.

Was she voluntarily hugging him?

Drunk or not, as long as she was initiating it, he didn't care.

Corvus smiled joyfully, preparing to hug her back, when Nadia's voice suddenly echoed from behind them:

"Corvus, watch out for her!"

Corvus snapped back to reality, realizing that at some point, Theia had seized his hand.

"You—"

Even though she had a grip on the switch, the ring was on his finger, and only he could remove it.

"Is that so?" Theia sneered. "Then let's all die together."

"Theia—"

"Don't call me that!" Theia roared, her eyes bloodshot. "Only my parents and Silas... only my family has the right to call me by my name."

"Corvus, you are not worthy."

"Do you really hate me that much? Enough to drag me to hell with you?"

Corvus stood in front of her, the sharp pain in his neck sobering him up completely.

"I didn't plan on dying with you at first. But if you insist on pushing forward with this psychotic research..." The mere mention of it made Theia grind her teeth in fury. "From the moment you betrayed our family, drove our parents to their graves, and schemed against me, there has been nothing between us but hatred. No familial love whatsoever."

"The bomb strapped to me has a pretty massive blast radius, right?"

Theia glanced toward the laboratory, a smile curving her lips. "It should be more than enough to blow up whatever is inside there too."

"Don't you dare!"

Corvus's nerves snapped tight, instinctively trying to break free, but Theia's grip was ironclad.

He was also terrified that if he fought too hard and enraged her, she would press the switch.
