Don't Mess with the Girl with Candy novel Chapter 1315

There was only one message.

Juniper: [?]

Other than that, nothing else.

It seemed...

Jimmie had accepted her reply and wouldn't be bothering her anymore.

"Phew—"

Luella leaned back onto the soft rug, staring at the ceiling with a smile.

She was supposed to feel relieved, but for some reason, her chest felt incredibly tight.

The next day.

Inside the Executive Chief's office.

"Get ready. You're coming with me to the Political Council this afternoon."

Lachlan Langley flipped through the contract, a smile spreading across his face as he nodded in satisfaction. "The Schwartz Group deal is notoriously difficult to negotiate. How did you manage to get it?"

"Maybe they were moved by my sincerity," Luella replied casually, standing with terrible posture and sprouting nonsense. "Since the Borealia deal is secured, there's hope for Australis as well."

"Are you referring to Subterra Vanguard?" Lachlan clutched the contract, asking in disbelief.

"Exactly."

Luella nodded slightly, her tone confident. "I can secure the deal with Subterra Vanguard too, but..."

Her gaze fell on Lachlan's face, her eyes filled with coldness. "When I negotiate it depends entirely on your sincerity, Father."

Lachlan looked up at his child, a hint of admiration flashing in his eyes.

He originally thought Luella was useless, but surprisingly, things were actually getting done.

If the Schwartz Group deal could be secured, Subterra Vanguard shouldn't be an issue either.

"Fine."

Lachlan nodded slightly, his voice deep. "I'll give you an important position."

"Thank you, Father."

Luella smiled without reaching her eyes, bowed slightly, and turned to walk out.

She ran right into Yvonne and Esme Langley.

"Don't worry." Yvonne tried to steady her breathing, speaking through gritted teeth. "She won't be arrogant for much longer."

"What do you mean?"

"Do you think your father can't see how ambitious she is?"

Yvonne smiled sinisterly. "Once she secures all the partnerships, your father is going to lock her up."

"Really?"

Esme's eyes widened in surprise, her face filling with joy.

"Of course."

Yvonne elegantly adjusted her shawl, a faint smile on her lips. "She's done plenty of crazy things over the years. Claiming she has a psychiatric disorder and locking her up in a hospital—no one will suspect a thing."

"That's wonderful."

Esme sighed in relief. Once Luella was locked up, Jared would become the sole candidate to be Executive Chief.

Their good days were coming.

But—

What they didn't realize was that standing in the corner not far away, Megan had covered her mouth, overhearing every single word.
