Don't Mess with the Girl with Candy novel Chapter 1377

“As for the brand partners.” Jimmie reached into his pocket and pulled out a bank card, sliding it onto the desk. “This holds everything I’ve earned over my entire career. It’s more than enough to cover the breach of contract fees.”

“Mr. Zigmund.” Jimmie’s gaze locked onto his utterly dumbfounded manager, his tone slow and deliberate. “You’ve been my manager since the day I entered this industry. I have never once asked you for a favor.”

“But on this matter, I refuse to let Luella get dragged into the crossfire.”

“If anyone touches her, I will tear them apart.”

Mr. Zigmund stared at the bank card, then back at Jimmie, his face turning a sickly shade of gray.

It wasn't until the door clicked shut behind the actor that he finally snapped out of his daze.

“Mr. Zigmund, are you alright?” the assistant asked cautiously, peeking his head back in. “Jimmie looked terrifying. I’ve never seen him like that before.”

“Neither have I!”

Mr. Zigmund snatched up the bank card, feeling like he couldn't quite catch his breath. He shoved the window open, letting the freezing wind blast his face.

Once his head cleared a fraction, he sighed. “Make sure Luella’s identity stays completely buried. Otherwise, Jimmie really will come for our throats.”

That damn kid, dropping a nuke on him out of absolutely nowhere.

“Then what do we do about the media firestorm?” the assistant asked.

“Let it burn for now,” Mr. Zigmund groaned, rubbing his temples in exhaustion. “Let the internet scream about it for a couple of days while I try to brainstorm a miracle.”

He couldn't actually let Jimmie bankrupt himself paying off those penalties, could he?

That was the kid's hard-earned blood, sweat, and tears!

“Understood.” The assistant rubbed his nose, unable to stop himself from muttering, “I just never pegged Jimmie Tate as a guy who played for the other team.”

Mr. Zigmund tapped on the scandalous photo on his tablet, pinching the screen to zoom in inch by agonizing inch. His eyes narrowed thoughtfully. “Is it just me, or does this Mr. Langley’s facial structure look surprisingly... feminine?”

He had survived in the brutal trenches of the entertainment industry for decades; he had an eagle eye for details.

If he didn't, he wouldn't have spotted Jimmie’s raw talent all those years ago and poured his soul into making him a star.

Could it be—

Was there a massive, hidden twist to this whole disaster?

Cloudscape Community.

Juniper opened her news feed and nearly passed out.

She instantly texted Jimmie, only to receive a terse two-word reply: [Leave it.]

“Luella’s in the final stage of her endgame.” Juniper locked her phone, leaning back against Shanley’s chest. “Jimmie refuses to jeopardize her mission, so he’s choosing to take the full brunt of this alone.”
