Don't Mess with the Girl with Candy novel Chapter 1394

"No, seriously, does Ms. Langley know about this?"

Clark took a step forward, glaring at the back of the woman's head, visibly angered.

Ms. Langley was his absolute idol.

"Do you even hear what's coming out of your mouth?" Jimmie set down his water glass, grabbed Luella's phone, and stepped forward to pull the "beautiful woman" into his arms.

"Hello, Clark," Luella turned around, greeting him with a smile. "Long time no see."

She hadn't expected him to be so fiercely loyal.

"M-Ms. Langley!!!"

Clark rubbed his eyes, staring at the gorgeous woman in sheer disbelief. "Am I seeing things? How did you turn into a woman?"

"?"

Luella's smile stiffened. A displeased smirk tugged at the corner of her mouth as she stated seriously, "I was always a woman!"

"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry." Clark hastily apologized, still reeling from the shock. "I meant... why are you dressing like a woman again?"

"I honestly thought some death-wish side chick had snuck in to seduce my boss."

"Your work attitude is commendable."

Luella stepped forward, patting Clark on the shoulder with a solemn nod. "I'm doubling your salary next month. Keep up the good work."

"Huh?"

Clark was completely bewildered again. Why was he suddenly getting a raise?

"If she says you get a raise, you get a raise," Jimmie chuckled indulgently.

"Thank you, Ms. Langley. Thank you, boss." The entirely baffled assistant nodded blankly.

"I'm leaving the brat with you," Luella said, turning a strict gaze on Jared. "Behave yourself. No messing around. Otherwise, you know what happens."

"I know."

Jared nodded obediently, whispering, "If I don't behave, I get thrown in the trash can."

"Glad you remember."

Luella's lips twitched as she fought back a laugh. "I'll bring you something good to eat when I get back tonight."

"Thanks, Sis!"

Jared's head snapped up, instantly thrilled.

Typical kid.
