Don't Mess with the Girl with Candy novel Chapter 1501

"Oh."

Lorelei sat down, not daring to look into his eyes, much less bring up what had just happened.

She suspected Harold was delirious from his fever. He must have mistaken her for someone else to do something so out of line.

"Lorelei..." Seeing her turn her face away to stare blankly at the white wall, Harold parted his lips. "Are you putting yourself in a time-out, or are you just too scared to look at me?"

"No." Lorelei pulled her gaze back, meeting his eyes in a flurry of panic. "Why would I... be scared?"

She nearly bit her tongue on those last few words.

"Heh."

Harold was amused by her adorable fluster, the corners of his mouth curving up slightly. "I passed out, I didn't die. I'll take responsibility for what I did."

"Responsibility?"

Lorelei's eyes trembled, her fingertips curling into her palms.

"Yeah." Harold nodded, leaning in close to her face, his voice slow and deliberate. "I kissed you. You can kiss me back."

Lorelei was speechless.

"Want to?" Harold asked.

"N-No."

Lorelei shot up in a panic, her cheeks burning bright red as she hurried toward the door. "I'm going to grab something to eat."

"I'm not hungry," Harold called out.

"I-I am."

Watching the girl flee in a panic, Harold felt a surge of delight.

Grab something to eat?

Could she even cook anything at all?!

Back in the kitchen.

Lorelei's heart was pounding so hard it felt like it might burst right out of her chest.

She clutched her shirt, desperately trying to steady her breathing.

Harold really had initiated that kiss.

He got jealous, he kissed her, and he even told Eleanor he wanted to have a baby with her.

Why?

Did he actually have feelings for her now?

Thinking of this, Lorelei couldn't tell if she felt happy or devastated.
