Don't Mess with the Girl with Candy novel Chapter 1528

Melvin sized the guy up. He dressed like a sunny campus heartthrob and admittedly had a decent face.

But when he smiled, he looked like a total sleazebag.

"Hey, Kian."

Hearing his voice, Janet immediately stood up, her eyes crinkling into a warm smile.

"I finished sorting through my section of the data. Take a look."

Kian Holloway stared right at her, his voice perfectly smooth.

Kian Holloway.

A sophomore at the School of Law.

This particular debate tournament was a joint effort between the freshmen and sophomore classes.

He was a big deal on campus.

During his freshman year, he had easily secured the "Best Debater" title.

Good-looking, highly talented, and relentlessly pursued by the girls.

He was undeniably one of the law school's golden boys.

"Got it."

Janet took the notes with both hands and asked softly, "Do you mind if my cousin takes a look?"

"?"

Kian finally glanced over, his eyes practically bugging out of his head. "Goddess?"

It was actually Juniper Payne—the absolute legend of Eclara University.

"Hey."

She shot him a passing glance before her attention dropped right back to the notebook.

"Janet, the Goddess is your cousin?" Kian's eyes darted frantically between the two girls, utter disbelief written all over his face. "How have you never mentioned this?"

The Goddess.

Not only was she the most legendary figure at the university, but she was loaded with terrifying hidden connections and was the future CEO's wife of the Schwartz Group.

If he had a connection like that, he would have made sure the entire campus knew about it.

"Huh?"

Janet looked momentarily confused. "It's not really something I felt the need to brag about."

She had absolutely no intention of using her cousin's name for clout.

"Is that right?"

Kian flashed a perfectly practiced smile, his expression suddenly very calculated. "But does she actually know anything about law?"

Hearing that, Juniper slowly raised her eyes and casually replied, "I know a little."

The international Formula 1 champion, and currently the biggest shot in the domestic racing industry.

And, more importantly, Juniper's brother.

"Mr. Steele, an absolute honor." Recovering quickly, Kian enthusiastically stuck out his hand, his smile blinding. "Breakfast for me? Thank you so much!"

Just like that, he was trying to force a connection.

Without missing a beat, he reached right for the sandwich in Melvin's hand.

One second.

Two seconds.

Kian tugged at it, but no matter how hard he pulled, the sandwich wouldn't budge.

His smile cracked as he looked up in confusion, only to find Melvin glaring at him with a look so chilling it could freeze hell.

"You're thanking me too soon."

Melvin yanked the sandwich back out of his reach, his voice dripping with venom. "I haven't eaten either. This one is mine. Go find the cafeteria."

Kian awkwardly retracted his hand. Quickly patching his bruised ego, he offered an ingratiating smile. "No worries at all. Enjoy."

"Let's review the script, Janet."

"Oh! Sure."

Assuming Melvin genuinely hadn't eaten, she felt a sudden pang of guilt.
