Don't Mess with the Girl with Candy novel Chapter 1708

"Oh."

Ebony Fox genuinely hadn't noticed his little motives. She picked up the remote and changed the channel.

It was better not to watch too much of that brainless TV.

It was easy to ruin your mind.

She switched to a military program about wilderness survival.

Kurt had never liked documentaries since he was a kid, especially military ones filled with technical jargon.

The host's voice was basically a lullaby.

As he watched, he started yawning uncontrollably.

Ebony Fox, however, absolutely loved this type of programming and watched with intense focus.

Not wanting to ruin her mood, Kurt silently stayed by her side.

Before they knew it, it was 3 AM.

The documentary finally ended.

Ebony Fox rolled her stiff neck, only then remembering there was someone beside her.

She turned her head and found Kurt hugging a throw pillow, his chin resting on it.

His eyes were tightly shut—or trying to stay shut—and his head kept nodding forward.

He looked completely dead to the world.

The living room was dim, illuminated only by the faint light from the TV screen.

As the camera angles changed on the screen, flickering halos of light danced across the man's face.

His features were chiseled, his bone structure striking.

In that moment.

Ebony Fox suddenly understood why Juniper had been so immediately attracted to Shanley's looks back then.

To understand Juniper is to become Juniper.

Kurt truly had an incredibly handsome face.

Looking further down, his thin lips held a faint shade of pink.

For a moment.

She stared, completely captivated, as a terrifying thought surfaced in her mind.

"Wake up." She bumped his shoulder.

"Ah?"

Kurt jolted awake instantly, his eyes blurry with sleep as he mumbled, "I'm not tired, I can keep watching."

"Really?"

Ebony Fox grew a bit amused, asking deliberately, "After watching for so long, what are your insights?"

If she moved, falling like that, Kurt would probably knock his teeth out.

Reason quickly took over.

She opened her arms, catching the out-of-control Kurt, and used all her strength to drag him to the side.

"Thud—"

Both of them crashed to the floor, but luckily the rug was soft enough that neither was hurt.

The position, however, was a bit awkward.

Kurt opened his eyes, looking down at the girl right beneath him, his heart pounding wildly.

"What are you looking at?" She struggled slightly, voicing her displeasure.

"So pretty."

Perhaps because it was so late, Kurt's mind wasn't entirely clear, and his courage swelled. "You are so beautiful."

She frowned; did he really need to say that?

"You're the most beautiful girl I've ever seen." Kurt's fingers were pressing right on the back of her hand. He carefully shifted them down, interlacing his fingers with hers. "It's such a shame. Why didn't I meet you sooner?"

Sooner?

If they went back a few more years, he'd have been a minor.

That would have been a legal issue.
