Don't Mess with the Girl with Candy novel Chapter 1737

"Ebony Fox, please get in," Monique said, maintaining the poised and elegant smile of a wealthy socialite.

Fifteen minutes later.

The driver pulled the car into a secluded area and quietly stepped away to wait at a distance.

Only Ebony Fox and Kurt's mother were left in the car.

"I just went to visit the studio you founded. It's quite a large operation, and you have a good number of members."

Monique smiled, offering a compliment completely devoid of any genuine emotion. "You are truly a promising young woman."

"Thank you for the compliment."

Ebony Fox pursed her lips and said softly, "If you have something to say, feel free to speak your mind."

She wasn't stupid enough to think Monique had made a special trip just to sing her praises.

Surprised by Ebony Fox's directness, Monique's polite smile froze.

Fine.

Originally, considering the ties between their families, she hadn't wanted to make things too difficult for her.

But since she put it that way, there was no need to beat around the bush.

"You are very straightforward, Ebony Fox," Monique said, dropping the smile as her tone grew stern. "You're aware that Kurt broke ties with his family because of you, aren't you?"

Ebony Fox lowered her eyes slightly, her red lips pressed into a tight line.

"Ebony Fox, you're a fine young woman, but you and Kurt just aren't suitable for each other."

Monique stared intensely at Ebony Fox, her voice soft but her words aggressive. "He is our only son. We've poured a tremendous amount of effort into raising him."

"He had just returned to the country and was about to enter the company. His future was incredibly bright."

"Yet, because of you, he spends his days fooling around at your studio, and now he's trying to start some insignificant aerospace startup."

"He even..."

Monique shot a glare at Ebony Fox, her voice tinged with gritted teeth, "rejected such a wonderful marriage arrangement with the Ainsworth family."

Hearing the last sentence, Ebony Fox slowly looked up. "So, what is it that you want me to do?"

But if they didn't do it, his future could be even worse.

They were older and wiser, so naturally, they knew which path was best.

"If you were truly doing this for his sake, I would have nothing to say."

Ebony Fox stared at Monique, her tone sharpening. "But are you really doing this for him? Or is it for your own pride and status?"

"I am not!"

Monique's expression shifted slightly, her defensive voice betraying a hint of guilt.

"Kurt is a human being, not your tool." Although angry, Ebony Fox kept her temper in check. "I was actually considering whether I should break up with him before."

"But now, it seems I no longer need to consider it."

Ebony Fox offered a faint smile, enunciating every word clearly. "If he becomes penniless, then so be it. I have money anyway. I'll just support him myself."

Monique: "?"
