"Why?"
Monique frowned deeply, displeased. "Annie is someone I carefully selected. Whether it's her family background, looks, or education, she's top-tier in every aspect."
"It's complicated; I can't explain it all right now."
Hector patted his wife's shoulder, his tone earnest. "Just stay away from her from now on."
That Ainsworth girl had been molded by her father to be entirely two-faced.
On the surface, she was gentle, elegant, and delicate.
In the shadows, she was ruthless and would stop at nothing to get what she wanted.
Once, he attended Amos Ainsworth's birthday banquet.
Halfway through, he stepped into the garden to sober up.
He happened to catch a thirteen-year-old Annie playing with a small cat.
During her play, Annie purposely stomped on the cat's tail just for fun.
Provoked, the cat turned and scratched her.
She pulled back quickly, so the cat didn't actually manage to hurt her.
But Annie flew into a rage and hurled the cat into the pond.
She stood there, watching the cat thrash and struggle until it drowned.
When a maid walked by, Annie immediately put on a pitiful expression, crying out for them to save the cat.
But the moment the maid turned away, a smug smile crept onto her face.
Such a sinister expression on a thirteen-year-old child.
He was profoundly shaken and had never forgotten it.
"You don't even know her," Monique argued, defending Annie. "While you and Kurt were away, Annie was the one keeping me company."
"I'm sorry."
Hector took his wife's hand, speaking gently. "Once my current projects wrap up, let's find some time to go on vacation together."
"If you have that kind of time, you'd be better off lecturing your son."
Monique felt incredibly wronged. She had put all her heart and soul into planning for the family, yet hadn't received a single word of gratitude.
"Alright, I'll call and scold him right now."
Since his father was calling, he definitely knew about Ebony Fox.
Kurt didn't elaborate further.
"Are you truly certain?" Hector pursed his lips, his voice deep and resonant. "You are four years younger than Ebony Fox. God knows how much less mature you are."
"If you're still wavering, I advise you to end it early..."
"I am certain." Kurt looked at the husky keychain dangling around his neck and let out a low chuckle. "If I could, I'd marry her and bring her home right now."
"Dad, you don't know her. She's truly wonderful. Beyond wonderful."
Hector rarely heard his son praise anyone like this; it seemed he was truly in love.
"As long as you've thought it through," Hector continued. "I've looked into Coach Ebony Fox's background; she is extremely exceptional. To be able to win her over, you sure are a lucky kid!"
"Dad, you're not opposed to this?" Kurt was a little surprised.
His mother was thoughtless and unhappy, and his father often turned a blind eye, blindly indulging her.
He had thought his father would side with his mother and urge him to give up on Ebony Fox.
"You're my son. I've never seen you like this for any woman."
