Don't Mess with the Girl with Candy novel Chapter 1800

Hector and Monique stood frozen as well, completely dumbfounded.

"What are you doing?"

Scrambling for his sanity, Kurt barely managed to pry his mouth open, his voice thick with gravel.

Ebony Fox didn't answer. Instead, she leaned in and kissed him again.

Kurt licked his lips, his eyes practically gleaming. The sheer joy exploding in his chest was impossible to hide.

She kissed him voluntarily?

Twice?!

He wasn't dreaming, was he? Was he hallucinating?

"Still want to break up?" Ebony Fox pressed her hand gently over his heart, her tone softer than it had ever been. "Still want to go on a hunger strike?"

Kurt was practically floating at this point. He instinctively shook his head.

Ebony Fox: "Open your mouth."

Kurt: Quietly opened his mouth.

Ebony Fox sat back down beside him and started feeding him, spoonful by spoonful.

"They..."

Monique stared at the two of them, blinking, entirely unsure of what to do.

"Let's step out."

Hector shook his head, whispering, "Let's leave them be so they can talk properly."

"Okay."

Seeing that Kurt was finally willing to eat, Monique didn't say anything more.

She had been terrified he would spiral into a depression he'd never recover from.

But looking at them now, with Ebony Fox by his side, maybe things would be much better.

After they left.

The room fell silent.

Kurt finished half the bowl of soup, lying in bed, his eyes fixed intently on Ebony Fox.

"Do you even realize what you're saying?" Kurt put on a grave expression. "Ebony Fox, I'm a cripple now. Aside from burdening you with an incomplete, useless body, I can't give you anything."

"I believe that someday, they'll find a way to fix this."

"Any other questions?"

Kurt was left utterly speechless. He had only intended to play along with Juniper's act.

He never expected Ebony Fox to have thought everything through this deeply.

He knew she liked him, but he never realized just how much.

"Is this pity?" Kurt furrowed his brows, his voice low. "Ebony Fox, I don't need anyone's pity."

"Don't worry, I'm not going to do anything stupid. I'll keep living."

"I don't pity you." Ebony Fox looked at him, a rare softness settling in her typically cold eyes. "I want to marry you because I love you."

Kurt stared at her, unmoving. He was profoundly shocked, but more than that, he was overwhelmingly moved.

"If I end up being perfectly fine, I'm marrying you." Kurt's Adam's apple bobbed, his voice hoarse and deep. "When that day comes, don't you dare forget your promise."

The reports were originally expected to take two days.
