A handsome, clean-cut young man dressed in light loungewear appeared before her.
Under the glow of the lights, Coralie's vision blurred for a fraction of a second.
His face almost perfectly overlapped with the face of another man.
Staring at him, Coralie gradually zoned out, her eyes involuntarily turning red.
"Brother..."
Coralie's lips moved, the mask of calm strength she always wore slipping away to reveal the raw agony in her eyes.
"Ms. Quill." The man stepped closer and crouched beside her, a gentle smile spreading across his handsome face. "Are you tired? Want me to massage your shoulders?"
Ms. Quill?
Not Coralie.
Right.
No matter how much they looked alike, he would never be him.
"A little."
The pain vanished from Coralie's face. She trailed her fingertips along his jawline, her red lips curving into a seductive smile. "I brought you dinner. Eat it while it's hot."
"Thank you, Ms. Quill."
The man glanced at the takeout container but quickly looked back at her face. "I can cook for myself. You don't have to go out of your way to handle these trivial things for me anymore."
"The fact that you financially support me is already more than enough."
How could he dare push his luck and expect her to take care of him?
"I want to."
Coralie's fingertips continued to trace his features, as if she were caressing a priceless artifact. "Don't worry. As long as you stay obedient, I won't toss you aside."
Back then, she had gone to a club for drinks and happened to run into Channing Irving on his very first day as a host, getting bullied by his peers.
That face of his had hit her right in the heart.
It had been years since she'd seen a man who could so thoroughly scramble her thoughts and emotions.
Driven by lust, she saved him.
After that, she would casually ask him out.
After a period of getting to know him, she had Channing move into her mansion just so she could see his face whenever she wanted.
"Ms. Quill."
The man stood dejectedly in the living room, staring at Coralie's retreating back with a frown. "What did you say to me when you first walked in?"
Coralie turned her head, casting a meaningful look at his face.
A few seconds later.
"Did I say something?"
The woman smiled carelessly. "Sorry, I don't remember."
"It's late. Eat your food and go to bed early. Staying up late ruins a man's complexion just as much as a woman's."
"And if there are any changes to that face of yours..."
Coralie didn't finish the thought, but Channing understood perfectly.
His hands clenched tightly at his sides, though his face betrayed no emotion as he obediently replied, "Don't worry, I will."
"Good boy."
Coralie was highly satisfied with his answer, giving him a gentle smile. "I'll take you to the auction tomorrow for some fun."
