Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 1275

Sylvia’s heart skipped with relief. She thought maybe other tourists or staff were nearby. She opened her mouth to call for help, but a wave of unease stopped her. The voices weren’t right. They were deep, rough, and not in Chinese at all—clear, fluent English, but with a harsh edge.

“Fuck, finally got it done.”

Water splashed. Someone had just come out of the sea.

Sylvia crouched down fast, creeping behind a big rock. She stuck out half her head, just enough to see. On the shallow stretch past the rocks, a group of burly foreign men dragged themselves up from the water. They peeled off slick, black wetsuits, muscles rippling beneath scars. One had a wild beard and a menacing glare as he wrung out his suit, cursing under his breath.

“Once that cruise ship blows, we’re out of this hellhole. Damn, half a month hiding on this stupid island. I’m sick of eating crap just to get by.”

Sylvia pressed herself low, trying not to breathe too loud. Disbelief and terror swirled in her chest.

Another man, bald and grinning with way too many teeth, tossed his flippers aside. He smirked.

“What’s the rush? In a minute, things over there are gonna turn into total chaos. We’ll just scoop up whatever’s left. The first tour around that island carries nothing but VIPs, rich sharks, all in one place. If they all get blown to hell...”

He made a clicking sound with his tongue, eyes glinting.

“The world economy’s gonna feel it, big time.”

Sylvia’s stomach dropped. Her pulse raced so fast it was hard to think.

They’re going to blow up the GlowOcean? The cruise ship about to leave with James, Emmy, and all those rich and powerful people on board?

A third man, tone even colder, spoke up.

“Don’t kid yourselves. That much explosive probably isn’t enough to kill all of them. The ship’s huge. Still, once it starts moving and the bomb goes off, those charges will easily send the whole thing to the bottom. That’ll be enough to put a scare into every single one of those bigwigs.”

Every nerve in Sylvia’s body froze. She had to warn someone. She had to get back and tell Mr. Lincoln—right now.

She slapped a hand over her mouth, forcing herself to breathe slow, to stay calm. Inch by inch, she eased backward, barely making a sound.

She turned. Her feet slipped on mossy stone, sending her stumbling.

A sharp crack echoed out, echoing off the rocks.

Sylvia’s thoughts scattered—panic took over. She ran as hard as she could, but the sand slipped under her feet, her legs threatening to give out. Terror closed around her throat.

She tripped. Went down hard. Grit bit into her hands, her knees, but she forced herself up, holding her phone in front of her as a last shred of hope.

“Stay back! I called the police! They already have my location! They’re coming here right now!” she shouted, voice shaking but loud.

The men didn’t even flinch. If anything, they laughed harder.

The bald guy stepped closer, his meaty cheeks jiggling every time he grinned.

“Go ahead and scream all you want,” he taunted. “You really think we don’t know? There’s no signal out here, not even for emergencies. They turned everything off to protect the damn nature. Why do you think we’ve been hiding here so long and nobody’s found us? Out here, you could scream your lungs out and nobody would hear—not even God.”

Hope deserted her. The phone slipped from her grip, left to dangle around her neck.

The bald man lunged, caught her ankle in a vice grip, and slammed himself on top of her.
