Eight Years of Maybe One Day of I Do—Bride Swapped Deal With It novel Chapter 113

Chapter 2

I hurled the bouquet straight onto the ground.

Ignoring Jackson’s shouting. I turned and walked out, heading straight home.

On the way, Jackson called me 99 times. I didn’t pick up once.

Then, deep into the night, the 100th call came through.

The shrill ringtone exploded in my ears. My finger hovered over the red button, until finally-I answered.

“Scarlett, where are you? My head’s killing me. Come make me some soup.”

Jackson’s voice was thick with alcohol and exhaustion.

“We’re done.”

I was about to hang up when I heard something heavy crash to the floor, followed by Jackson’s pained groan.

My chest tightened.

“Jackson, what happened? Are you okay?”

“Everything hurts… please, come help me…”

His voice was dripping with that obvious, needy tone-like he was acting cute, leaning on me.

I stared at my phone for a long moment, then finally got in my car and drove over.

Just to put a period on whatever we used to have. One last time.

The second I pushed open the door, I saw Jackson half-sprawled on the floor-kissing Penelope.

She pulled out a condom and tossed it onto him with a smirk.

Jackson grabbed her waist. “Mmm, you naughty little thing. You know exactly what I need. Brought me the wrong size on purpose?”

My foot froze mid-step as I heard their moans start up.

That frantic, worried heart of mine? Instantly went ice-cold. I turned to leave-but Jackson’s voice cut through the air like a blade.

“Being with you is so much more fun. You have no idea-Scarlett’s like a total starfish in bed.”

His complaints stabbed into my ears like steel needles, one after another.

“If it weren’t for the company, I wouldn’t even look at a woman like her.”

Penelope laughed breathlessly. “So what about me? Who’s more fun-me or her?”

At the mention of Penelope, Jackson’s voice softened.

“You, obviously. You know how to get down and dirty… You know what? If she ever found out that the bed she sleeps in every night has been

completely wrecked by us, she’d probably lose her shit.”

So that’s it…

My whole body went stiff, like someone had drained every drop of blood from my veins. I felt dizzy, hollow.

No wonder I kept finding random strands of hair in my bed. It was Penelope all along.

Jackson’s drunken voice got even more tender as he stroked her face.

“Don’t worry. Once I marry her and take over her family’s fortune, I’ll marry you. She’s just a tool to build my empire. The one I really love? That’s always been you.”

I couldn’t take it anymore. I turned to leave-and ran straight into one of Jackson’s friends who’d come by to check on him.

“Scarlett, why aren’t you going in?”

His friend looked confused. The next second, Jackson shoved Penelope off and stood up, his face full of disbelief.

“Scarlett-what are you doing here?”

“Didn’t you call me? Didn’t you tell me to come take care of you?”

I stared at the hickeys still all over Jackson and Penelope’s bodies, then let out a cold laugh.

“Looks like you’ve already been taken care of. Guess you don’t need me after all.”

I turned to leave. Jackson grabbed my arm and yanked me back.

“Wait-let me explain. I didn’t mean to-”

Before he could finish, he lurched forward and threw up.

Vomit splattered all over the floor. The air reeked.
