Eight Years of Maybe One Day of I Do—Bride Swapped Deal With It novel Chapter 119

Chapter 1

One week cefore the wedding, my bestie Lilac Snow flew in to be my maid of honor.

That evening, she was still in the shower when her phone buzzed.

“Aurora, can you check who it is?”

I grinned. “What if there’s some secret guy you’ve been hiding from me?”

I swiped open her phone and tapped into Instagram. Right there at the top-a pinned chat. A new message just came through.

[Baby, wanna get freaky tonight?]

Below it, a photo.

A woman in a slutty bunny costume. Pink handcuffs dangling from her fingers.

Another message popped up-a voice note this time.

I hit play.

“I’ve been dying to fuck you. Let’s use these tonight.”

My breath caught.

I played it again.

Heat flooded my face-then drained away, leaving me cold all over.

Because that voice wasn’t some stranger’s.

It was Julian Beaumont’s.

My devoted fiancé.

The heating was cranked up.

The bathroom door was closed, water running. The sound hammered against my chest-each drop felt like it was crushing me.

I stared at Julian’s messages to Lilac. A secret account I’d never seen before. Their texts were filthy, explicit. Like I’d never known either of them

at all.

For a second, a stupid thought crept in.

Maybe I’m wrong?

Maybe it just… sounds like him?

After all, Lilac and I grew up together. She’d never dated anyone. She even told me once she wasn’t into guys. And the first time she met Julian? She looked at him like he was roadkill.

“So you’re the loser?”

She didn’t even try to hide her disgust. My face burned as she sized him up, then jabbed a finger at his chest.

“Listen up, you ugly bastard. You better treat my girl like a queen, or I’ll make sure you regret it.”

That meeting was a disaster.

Even now, whenever Julian brought her up, he’d say. “If she wasn’t your best friend, I would’ve killed her the second I met her.”

I looked back at the screen.

The guy with the matching couple avatar just sent another message-a question mark.

I flinched like I’d been shocked, locked her phone, and grabbed mine to FaceTime Julian.

It rang a few times.

“Hey, babe.”

His familiar face filled the screen. He flipped the camera around to show his buddies-his childhood friends and business partners-waving at

“Checking up on him, huh?”

“Don’t worry, we’re keeping an eye on this guy for you!”

“Seriously, he’s obsessed with you. You’ve got nothing to worry about!”

These were the guys Julian had known forever. They were all in on this trip-expanding the company, closing deals. Julian turned the camera

back to himself, his smile soft.

“Babe, do you miss me?”

He leaned closer to the screen, lowering his voice. “Because I miss you like crazy. I’ve been pushing these guys to wrap things up so I can get

back to you.”

Hearing him call me “babe” over and over still made my face heat up. My chest felt warm. I forced a smile.

“Just focus on work.”

I shouldn’t have doubted him. Shouldn’t have questioned our love and our future.

“I’m just checking in.”

The voice note flashed through my mind again.
