“Better to just kick him and his sister out,” Drake said. “There are zombies everywhere out there. They’ll end up getting eaten anyway. Wouldn’t that feel even better?”
Xane loved hearing that. But the young man started shaking all over.
He looked at them, full of anger and hurt. “I… Martin, Drake, I really misjudged you!”
“Why are you still talking?” Martin said casually. “This is what happens when you forget your place. Get his sister out of the car. Having them ride with us this long was already bad luck!”
“No! Don’t! You can’t do this!”
The young man rushed forward, but Xane’s earlier threats had already scared everyone badly.
Was Xane too much?
Yes. Way too much. But what could they do?
At a time like this, they had no choice but to keep their heads down.
The young man could only watch as the others, looking guilty, pushed him aside and dragged his unconscious sister out of the car.
Seeing her thin, weak body, he lost it. He charged forward and snatched her away from them.
“Izzy, you okay? Izzy…”
“Klay…”
The girl barely opened her eyes. She forced a small, weak smile. “Did we make it to the base yet?”
Klay Ellington clenched his fists tight and swallowed his tears. “Not yet. Go back to sleep. We’ll be there soon.”
Hearing that, Izzy Ellington relaxed a little. “That’s good… Klay, when we get there, you have to rest for a few days… You’ve been so tired this whole trip…”
“Of course. I’m not stupid,” he said, nodding. “Go back to sleep. When you wake up next time, we should be there.”
“Okay”
The girl seemed like she wanted to say more, but she had no strength left. In the end, she could only close her eyes, exhausted.

The young man gently laid her on the ground. Then he looked at Robin, his eyes full of hatred. “Who are you?! I never did anything to you! Why would you do this to us? What gives you the right?!”
Robin didn’t get mad at his shouting.
She watched as Xane walked out, swaggering, disappearing from sight.
Only then did she let out a quiet scoff. “Idiot.”
She walked toward Izzy, but Klay immediately blocked her, eyes red like they might bleed. “What do you want now?! I know you’re strong, but if you take one more step toward my sister, I swear, even if I die, I’ll take a bite out of you!”
Ella couldn’t take it anymore.
“Hey,” she said, annoyed, “Ms. Robin calling you an idiot wasn’t wrong. Think about it. A bastard like Xane? You beat him up so badly. Even if you did crawl around the mall as he said, do you really think he’d forgive you?”
Klay froze for a second, but still stayed on guard. “Maybe… maybe he would’ve spared us.”
Ella rolled her eyes. “Use your brain! Even if you don’t know us, you’ve been traveling with Martin and Drake this whole time. Do you really think they’re the kind of guys who would suddenly become heartless and kick you and your sister out for no reason?”
Hearing that, Klay went quiet. His expression wavered.
A guess had already started forming in his mind, but he still couldn’t believe it.
Robin waved her hand, and Ella immediately took out water and fever medicine from her bag.
The moment he saw those, Klay’s eyes widened.
