Chapter 332 The Silent Granary
Luckily, there wasn’just one granary fiere, so all they could do was hope the grain in the others hadn’t gone bad.
But things didn’t go the way they hopeth
The first, second, and third granaries were all moldy and rotten. The fourth wasn’t moldy, but the moment they forced the door open, thousands of startled rats poured out in a frenzy,
Each one was huge, with sharp snouts and bared fangs, nearly the size of pre–apocalypse cats.
Some of the girls in the bases were already terrified of rats, and now their screams overlapped into a piercing wave that felt like it could split eardrums.
Luckily, the rats didn’t seem interested in attacking. After flooding out of the granary, they scattered and fled in all directions.
Once everyone finally calmed down, they realized the granary was almost completely empty.
Grain scraps littered the ground. The rats had eaten everything clean.
“Damn it!”
Someone finally snapped and roared in frustration.
They had worked so hard to get here, thought they were about to see hope, only to have it crushed all over again.
Everyone else looked just as grim. There were six granaries in total, and now only the last two were left.
If those also had problems…
Then this whole trip might’ve been for nothing.
Watching the massive swarm of rats disappear, Vivian spun in place anxiously.
She grabbed the hem of Robin’s shirt. “My little cuties, my little cuties…”
Abigail looked like she’d just seen a ghost. “Cuties? Y–you mean those rats?”
“Yeah.”
Vivian nodded pitifully. “I think they really want to be friends with me!”
Abigail was stunned.
Robin patted her head and lowered her voice. “Go quietly.”
Vivian’s eyes lit up. “You’re the best!”
With so many people around, no one paid attention to a small, thin girl like Vivian. She quickly slipped

from the group and went after the vanished rats.
Robin wasn’t worried about her goifig off alone.

With Vivian’s abilities, if she really ran into trouble, it was hard to say who’d be in more danger.
And with that many rats, clearly mutated after the apocalypse, this was practically her home turf.
“No matter what, we should check the last two”
Kevin let out a sigh.
Now, all their hope rested on those final two granaries.
The group moved forward with heavy hearts and stopped in front of the second–to–last granary. David took a deep breath and slowly pushed the door open.
Everyone else held their breath without realizing it.
This granary was also the largest of the six.
It held up to 5,000 tons of grain. If this one had gone bad too…
Then everyone’s nerves were really going to snap.
The door creaked open, stirring up a thin layer of dust.
The inside of the granary came into view.
There were no rats.
And at least from where they stood, the grain didn’t look disturbed.
Now it came down to whether it had spoiled.

The group filed in carefully, but Dylan frowned. “Don’t you think…it’s too quiet in here?”
“No one’s talking, and there’s no one else around. Isn’t it normal for it to be quiet?”
Henry didn’t think much of it, but Dylan still looked uneasy. “No. This place is huge. Even if it’s packed with grain, any small sound should echo. I heard echoes in the other granaries, but here…I hear nothing.”
Henry blinked. “You’re probably overthinking it.”
Right then, everyone suddenly felt like a shadow flickered past behind them.
