Chapter 342 Arrogant Jack

Jack didn’t mind. In fact, reir opposition and resentment didn’t even register as worth his attention.
A collection of bases thrown together by ordinary people couldn’t hold a candle to Vernon Base.
They were nothing but a rabble.
After the initial surge of noise, the crowd settled down, and their collective gaze drifted, full of barely concealed hope, toward Robin.
A powerhouse like her wouldn’t just stand by and let something this unfair slide, would she?
If she stepped up, there was still a chance this could turn around…
Even Rolf found himself looking her way.
Before all of this, going head–to–head with Vernon Base would’ve been out of the question.
But now, with Robin’s group effectively on their side, they were all in this together.
Rolf’s calculations, however, were about to fall apart entirely.
Robin took in every pair of eyes trained on her and let out a quiet, knowing laugh. “What, you want me to be your vanguard so you can toss me around wherever you want?”
Having their motives laid out that plainly caught the other bases completely off guard. A ripple of flustered discomfort moved through the crowd. “Ms. Neel… that’s not what we meant, really. It’s just that five bases splitting 40 percent is barely a deal…”
“Exactly, Ms. Neel! There wasn’t that much food here to begin with, and Vernon Base is taking 60 percent right off the top. That leaves 40 percent for five bases! Five bases, splitting 40 percent, what does that even leave each of us?”
“We’re not trying to complain about our own share, but with your strength, Ms. Neel, you shouldn’t be walking away with this little…”
“That’s right! And last night, it was your intervention that got us all out of there alive. You saved every single one of us. By any measure, you deserve far more than this!”
Everyone was talking over each other, every voice ringing out in fervent, righteous defense of Robin’s honor. But underneath all of it, the message was crystal clear: they wanted her to go toe–to–toe with Vernon Base.
If the granary had been packed to the rafters and Vernon Base had tried to swallow 60 percent whole, Robin wouldn’t have thought twice about it.
But the thing was…
She’d personally swept up four–fifths of this granary’s provisions herself.
Whatever was left, she genuinely had no interest in. She wouldn’t have cared if they gave her nothing at all.

Someone, noticing that she’d stayed silent through all of it, ventured with careful delicacy, “Ms. Neel… could you say something
At that, every pair of eyes in the room sharpened and locked onto her.
Whether they walked away with more provisions today rested entirely on Robin.
If she was willing to speak up, if she expressed even a hint of displeasure…
If she clashed with Vernon Base, they’d all get a piece of the spoils.
But Robin wasn’t playing that game.
She raised an eyebrow, her tone light and unhurried. “I’m sorry, but I don’t have a problem with this arrangement.”
The words hit the room like a thunderclap, and the crowd erupted instantly.
“Wait, Ms. Neel, you don’t have a problem with this?”
“How can you not?”
“It’s not even about our share, it’s about you! You did so much, and you’re walking away with so little. We just think it’s unfair to you…”
