Max’s mind was already completely fuzzy, but he vaguely saw a white shape coming closer. He shivered, a brief spark of awareness flashing back.

Rooaaar!

Snowy’s nose twitched, his eyes flashing with a fierce light. Just as he reached out his claws, ready to tear Max apart, Jessica suddenly shouted, Wait!

Ella frowned. What, are you going to defend him too?

She hadn’t forgotten that earlier on the stairs, this woman had clung to Max’s arm, clearly jealous.

No, it’s not thatJessica shook her head.

She carefully set her daughter aside, grabbed the baseball bat next to her, and slowly walked up to Max.

Even though she was terrified inside, when she looked down at his pale and lifeless face, her eyes burned with pure hatred.

Jessica

Max’s face changed the moment he saw the baseball bat in her hands. You bitch! What do you think you’re doing! Don’t think I won’t kill you!

Die!Jessica shouted.

Closing her eyes, she lifted the bat, as if using every ounce of strength in her body, and swung it down hard!

A dull thud echoed as the bat smashed into Max’s head, splitting it open.

For a moment, the air was completely still.

Dane stood there, wideeyed, stunned.

Ella looked at that slender figure and had a thoughtful expression on her face.

Jessica leaned on the baseball bat and closed her eyes tightly.

After a long moment, she finally stood up straight. Her delicate frame looked like a gust of wind could blow her over.

But everyone clearly noticed something different about her.

Robin and the others were planning to head back to ShangriLa. Jessica held her daughter, her expression hesitant, like she wanted to say something but didn’t.

She had already seen Robin’s full strength and knew she should cling to this powerful ally. But she was just a woman, carrying a baby, knowing almost nothing. In this killer apocalypse, the only thing she could use to survive was her looks, just like when she had been with Max.

Chapter 41 Why Did You Help Me?

The problem was, Robin was a woman too!

Her only advantage now seemed useless. Jessica bit her lip tightly, her mind battling itself over what to do. Then Robin turned and asked her, Why are you just standing there? Let’s go.”

Wwhat?

Jessica froze, hardly believing her ears.

Robin clicked her tongue. Fine, if you’re not going, then forget it.

I’m going!

Jessica’s heart raced wildly.

Seeing that the three of them were willing to accept her, the few people who had barely survived alongside Max suddenly rushed forward.

Miss, please! Save me!

Miss, I don’t want to die! Please, let me come with you! I’ll do anything!

You saved that woman already. Why won’t you save one more? You can’t be so selfish!

I’m no worse than that woman! She’s already used up and ruined anyway!

Robin hadn’t intended to pay attention to them. She wasn’t kind, but she wasn’t a senseless killer either.

But when she heard the next few words, before Jessica could even react, Robin’s expression darkened. Two sharp gunshots rang out, and the two of them already had a bloody hole in the middle of their foreheads!

Jessica held her daughter tightly, following closely behind the three and a tiger, until they got into the car. Even then, her head still felt dizzy.

Ella and Dane didn’t really understand what was happening, but it was clear they didn’t have a say in the

matter.

Dane and Ella sat up front, while Jessica carefully took a seat in the back with Robin. Snowy, with a loud thump, jumped straight onto the roof of the car.
