Chapter 73 A Level 2 Zombie

But the little boy rushed in front of them. “N–No, we can’t go down there!”

His parents looked embarrassed and quickly pulled him back. “He’s just a kid, he doesn’t know what he’s saying. Please don’t take him seriously…”

The boy struggled hard against thern. “I’m not being dumb! You really can’t go down there–it’s still dangerous!”

Ella raised an eyebrow, intrigued. “It’s not dangerous anymore. We already killed those monsters.”

“No.”

The little boy shook his head seriously. “There’s still one left.”

Ella was about to respond when something suddenly changed downstairs.

A blur shot out from a dark corner at incredible speed, heading straight for Robin!

Her pupils shrank. The shovel in her hand flashed cold as she swung it without hesitation, aiming straight for the thing’s head.

But to her surprise, this time the blade didn’t go through.

It was stopped midway by the zombie’s rock–hard skull. Seeing its black claws about to rake across her, Robin reacted instantly–she let go of the shovel and drove a powerful kick straight into its chest!

Bang!

With her strength, that kick should have shattered its ribs–or at least sent it flying.

Instead, the creature only staggered back a few steps. Her leg throbbed from the impact.

Her eyes narrowed slightly.

A Level Two zombie had appeared!

Sure enough, the system’s notification chimed in her mind the next second.

“Beep! Level 2 zombie detected. Kill a Level 2 zombie to earn 2 points. A Level 2 crystal can be exchanged. ‘for 3 points.”

As the apocalypse dragged on, it wasn’t just humans, animals, and plants evolving. The zombies were getting stronger, too.

The first generation of zombies had been slow and mindless. Their defense and attack weren’t impressive- the only real danger came from the toxins in their teeth and claws.

Bur over time, they became harder and harder to deal with.

Chapter 73 A Level 2 Zombie

They grew faster, stronger, and more resilient. Every part of their bodies improved, and a gray–white crystal began forming inside their brains. In her past life, people had called it a zombie crystal.

No one knew exactly what it did. All they knew was that higher–level zombies had larger, purer crystals- ones that grew clearer, almost transparent.

By the middle and later stages of the apocalypse, many believed these crystals were the zombies‘ energy source. People tried to extract that energy–but every attempt failed.

Some desperate, reckless people tried consuming the crystals to enhance their abilities. A few succeeded but most suffered side effects. Those who failed turned into zombies themselves.

Robin had never cared much about zombie crystals before. But when she heard a Level 2 crystal could be exchanged for 3 points, her eyes lit up.

Killing a Level 2 zombie only gave 2 points–but the crystal alone was worth 3. That meant killing one could earn her a total of 5 points!

Her fighting spirit surged.
