Chapter 87 Stepping
Into the Fight
Robin lifted her chin at Jerome and the others. “Go. Your test starts now.”
The five or six of them went pale.
But it was too late to back out.
Steven let out a low growl. “They’re just two zombies.
He charged forward first.
Let’s take them down!”
The others glanced at each other. Then they gritted their teeth and followed.
The twelve zombies had just been knocked around and were still dazed. They hadn’t even reacted the group rushed in, swinging their weapons wildly.

And once they really started fighting, they realized something. Zombies weren’t as scary as they thought.
They were slow. Their reactions were dull. Their attacks were simple. As long as you got past your fear and avoided their claws and teeth, killing one or two wasn’t that hard.
“Hey!”
Steven swung his steel pipe, ready to finish off the zombie he had been fighting for a while. But out of nowhere, another pipe shot in from the side and killed it first.
It happened too fast. Steven froze for a second. That one second almost got him scratched by another zombie.
He barely dodged and then snapped, furious. “Warren, what are you doing?!”
The man called Warren Cobb didn’t even look at him. “Why are you yelling at me? I didn’t do anything.”
Steven was
angrier. “You knew I’d been fighting that zombie for a long time! I was about to finish it, and then you jumped in!”
“I was helping you,” Warren said, acting like he was in the right. “I tried to help, and this is how you treat me? Seriously?”
Steven was
shaking with anger. “Helping me? You were stealing my kill!”
Since his real intention was exposed, Warren dropped the act. “Stealing? Don’t make it sound so ugly, Whoever can kill it kills it. What, did that zombie have your name on it? Only you’re allowed to kill it?”
He snorted. “If anything, it’s your fault for being too slow. I helped you out, and instead of thanking me, you complain. Don’t expect me to put up with that.”
“You-
Steven was so mad he couldn’t even speak. But Warren was even more shameless. He rushed in again and snatched another half–dead zombie from someone else, finishing it off. Then he ran over to Robin, grinning. “Boss! I’ve killed two zombies. Can I follow you now?”
