Escape from Mr. Whitman (Emma and Theodore) novel Chapter 500

Even Sebastian, despite the silent, icy treatment he was giving Emma, remained professional during rehearsals. But that's where it ended.

He started coming and going alone, no longer walking with her, and certainly not waiting to drive her home at night.

Gradually, Emma got used to the new routine.

After finishing her solo practice each night, she'd just walk to the main road just off campus, where her bodyguard's car would be waiting for her, always on time.

That day marked their final rehearsal before the flight to Edinburgh.

Emma didn't push the dancers too long. After a light walk-through in the afternoon, she sent them home to rest up for their early flight the next morning.

Naturally, Sebastian left with the rest of the dancers.

After tidying up, Emma headed to the Wellness Center for her usual physical therapy session.

She was planning to grab a quick coffee and a sandwich to tide her over, but as she approached a nearby café, she stopped short. Through the large glass door, she saw Sebastian and Faith sitting inside.

They were face-to-face, their heads bent together as they whispered intimately about something.

The moment Emma appeared outside the glass, Sebastian's gaze flickered in her direction.

She couldn't be sure if he'd actually seen her, but he gave no sign of recognition.

Or maybe he hadn't noticed?

It seemed unlikely.

She didn't go in, turning instead and heading straight for the Wellness Center.

After her session, she returned to the rehearsal hall for her personal recovery exercises. By the time she finished, it was very late.

Figuring Sebastian was even less likely to pick her up tonight, she shouldered her bag and started the walk toward the edge of campus.

She never expected to run into four drunks just before she reached the main road.

Inside the classroom, she resisted with all her strength, dodging around desks and chairs, grabbing anything she could to throw at them. But in the end, she was no match for four strong men. They pinned her against a table.

"Let me go! Let me go! Help!" Her voice was raw, her screams the only weapon she had left.

A repulsive, leering face swam before her eyes as filthy hands tore at her shirt and pants. True despair began to set in…

Suddenly, a voice exploded through the space, cutting through the air. "Let her go!"

Suddenly, the leering face above her vanished, replaced by the concerned features of Theodore Whitman.

In her despair, she stared at him, momentarily stunned.

It wasn't until Theodore turned to shield her, roaring at the four men, that reality snapped back into focus. "Fuck off! The cops are on their way!"

She, she might actually have a chance to escape?

But the four men just sneered, unimpressed by the lone figure of Theodore.
