Escape from Mr. Whitman (Emma and Theodore) novel Chapter 531

Emma looked at her, surprisingly calm. She glanced over the small group of dancers gathered by Isla's side. "And what if I don't agree?"

Isla laughed condescendingly. "Then we just won't show up. Go ahead, sue us. The worst that can happen is you get a payout."

"Have you thought about what this will do to your careers?" Emma asked them. "Breaking a contract, showing no sense of responsibility or respect for the stage... do you think any other troupe will want you after this?" The thought of Sebastian flashed through her mind. Isla's behavior was just like his—rich, entitled, and ready to walk away from commitments at a whim.

Isla actually laughed at that. "Emma, you're so naive. People with my kind of money don't wait to get hired. I can just start my own troupe. And these ladies who are leaving with me today? They'll be the founding members. I'll make sure they're well taken care of."

"That's a shame," Emma said with a sigh. "You don't truly love to dance."

Isla roared with laughter. "You're hilarious. Do you really think people like me need to work for a living? Money just flows to me while I sit at home. How could I ever be like you, dancing just to survive? For me, it's just a game."

Isla stepped aside, ready to savor the moment of Emma's humiliation. But just as her smugness reached its peak, the dancers she had poached exchanged a look. One of them took the lead and began to count, "One… two… three…"

Isla's heart soared, eagerly anticipating the final blow to Emma's pride. But instead, the girls joined hands, and with a unified shout of "Emma, we're with you!" they all ran over and enveloped her in a massive, joyous hug.
