“He’s close, I can sense him and that evil woman.” Noah said as they made their way to the front line.
Amelia drew her closer to him when he said those words, and Ryder slowed down his pace so he could stay close to them. “Wait.” Ryder’s father said, and they all paused, causing the troops behind them to stop as well.
“He’s here.” Ryder whispered, and went to stand in front of Noah and Amelia.
There was the sound of leaves and twigs crushing under the feet of many men, before Jasper and Camille appeared, with a great multitude of troops right behind them.
“And there they are.” Amelia said dryly, laying her hands on Noah’s shoulder and keeping him close. She knew her puppy was strong, but her maternal instincts didn’t made her worry unceasingly about them.
Camille smiled victoriously when she saw them, and happily clapped her hands.
“Oh darling!” She called out to Jasper, “Look! You were right, here they are!”
“Ah yes.” Jasper said and grinned when his eyes fell on Ryder, “For a moment there, I was worried that we were going after the wrong group. My bad for doubting the witch. I guess I owe her an apology.”
Neither Amelia or Ryder said anything, while Jasper and Camille blabbered on like they had won.
“Oh my bad.” Jasper finally said, acknowledging Ryder and his troops, “My manners are so poor, I haven’t even greeted our rivals.”
“oh yes!” Camille squealed, and searched for Amelia and Noah, her eyes going wide with delight when she saw them. “I guess we got too carried away with actually seeing them
Amelia scoffed.
“Hello little Mutt! Are you ready to die?!” Camille called out and Amelia let out a low growl that all but delighted Amelia.
“The only person that will be dying today, will be you.” Amelia said coldly as she stepped out from behind Ryder, ‘And I sure as hell hope you’re prepared for it.”
Camille smirked. “We’ll see about that.”
“Bet. Was all Ryder responded before shifting into his wolf form.
Some of the warriors did the same, while others drew out their swords and archery. Amelia also shifted into her wolf form and tossed Noah over her back.
“Hold on to me? She prompted him.
“yes” He said, but his eyes were on Jasper and Camille, cold and calculated, waiting for the right moment when he had to strike and put them down for good.
Ryder’s troops tore through Jasper’s troops. And where Ryder’s troops were articulate and decisive, Jasper’s troops were cold and depraved, seeking for the vital points of their enemies so that they could take them down.
But they weren’t nearly as strong as the wolves that fought alongside Ryder. And that strength made up for the maniac way Jasper’s wolves fought.
“You think I’d ever let you be happy with Amelia!” Jasper roared as he clawed at Ryder.

Ryder hissed with pain, and doubled back on Jasper, pinning underneath him.
He roared ferally when he had Jasper pinned beneath him.

“I’ve never thought you capable of letting Amelia live in peace with me, which is why I came here today with every intention of destroying. Permanently.”
Ryder let out another menacing growl and was about to finally end when Camille let out a wild cry and rushed toward Ryder and Jasper. She was able to push Ryder off Jasper with all of her strength, but she wasn’t able to avoid the arrow that was shot at her and embedded itself in her side.
“No!” Jasper cried and shifted into his human form, while Camille whined in pain. “I’ve got you. I’ve got you.”
He said to her repeatedly when she shifted into her human form and lifted her off the ground.
“Block us!” Jasper cried, and suddenly all of his troops came after Ryder and his pack.
“no no, don’t let them get away!” Ryder roared as Jasper’s men flooded us, to keep them from going after Jasper and Camille.
Ryder and his men fought valiantly, and once he was able to get rid of a good chunk of Jasper’s men, he chased after Jasper and Camille for almost an hour.
But he couldn’t get them. Their scent was everywhere and nowhere at the same time. Almost as though they had vanished into thin air.
“They got away.” Ryder told Amelia when she joined him later. She was carrying Noah on one arm, while she bled on the other.
“Let them be for now. They are both very injured, they won’t get very far.”
“but they seem to have vanished!” Ryder said in frustration.
“I know, but they still lost today.” Amelia said, her countenance somewhat peaceful, despite having just survived a war, “we’re alive. Noah is here. Let’s take the victory we’ve won today. We can worry about them tomorrow.”
She reached out and took his hand.
He sighed when she touched him, and laid his head on hers.
“You’re bleeding. He said, looking at her arm.
“Ill heal. Some of the other warriors are worse, they need to be tended.”
He nodded slowly and pulled her close.
