“Vincent, your grandfather chose the Bellamy family for a reason,” Caleb said. “They have an excellent reputation in Eloria, and Miss Bellamy is lively and capable. She’d be a real asset to your career.”
“Our family isn’t what it used to be,” Caleb continued. “As her brother, I don’t want Arden marrying into another powerful family. I just want her with someone ordinary who’ll cherish her and protect her.
Being a wealthy family’s daughter–in–law was never easy.
“But I already have someone I like,” Vincent said.
His gaze followed Arden, who was holding the flowers.
He’d liked her for a long time.
If not for the sudden crisis in his family back then, he might have already proposed to the Wynns.
“Arden probably isn’t ready for a relationship,” Caleb said, ending the topic. He patted Vincent’s shoulder. “Let’s go inside.”
At the living room table, Arden bent down to reach for a vase, but Noah stopped her. “I’ll do it.”
“You know how to arrange flowers?” she asked.
“My mom’s really into it. I’ve picked up a few things over the years.”
He took the vase to the kitchen to fill it with water. Arden stayed behind, trimming and arranging the lilies.
Dorian walked over with the roses and sat down beside her. Seeing it was him, Arden shifted a little farther
away.
Dorian glanced at her, said nothing, and set the roses on the table. Noah returned with water, grabbed scissors, trimmed the stems, and arranged the flowers neatly.
Arden handed out disposable cups of water. Vincent went over to help.
Ares sat down ‘next to Dorian. They watched Ruby and the others wander around, checking out Arden’s place.
The apartment was spacious, about 1,600 square feet, three bedrooms. Arden lived alone, so the furnishings were minimal.
After setting the cups down, Arden asked, “Are you guys hungry?”
“No.”
“Alright, then let’s start prepping for the backyard grill night.”
“Sounds good.”
Ruby rolled up her sleeves and walked over.

There were too many ingredients, Shrimp, crabs, oysters, fish, beef, and lamb all went into the kitchen, while the living room filled up with vegetables.
Noah and Vincent rolled up their sleeves and volunteered to handle the seafood and oysters.
Barry joined them.
Cassian nudged Ares and Dorian with his foot. “You two not helping?”
They were sitting there like statues.
Dorian glanced toward the kitchen. Caleb was already inside. Four men were crowded in there. “Isn’t it being handled already?”
“That’s not the same.”
Dorian frowned. “How’s it different?”
Theo clicked his tongue. “So you two are here to be served? With this many women around, you don’t even want to score some goodwill?”
Dorian looked toward Arden and Ruby prepping vegetables in the living room. “I can help with vegetables.”
Ares nodded. “Same. I can wash vegetables.”
But just as Dorian stood up, Arden went into the kitchen to check.
She didn’t trust Barry or Vincent, pampered guys from elite families, to actually know how to deal with
seafood.
As expected. Only Noah was working smoothly. Barry, Vincent, and Caleb stood there awkwardly, completely out of their depth.
“Caleb, you guys really don’t know how to do this?” Arden asked. “Should I ask Isla to call a few helpers from her place? There’s too much, and Noah can’t do it all alone.”
Barry and Vincent wanted to prove themselves. But the truth was, they’d barely stepped into a kitchen before.
Caleb shook his head. “Yeah… we’re not great at this.”
“I’ll get Isla,” Arden said. “You guys can stop.”
She stepped out and called, “Isla, only Noah knows how to handle shrimp, crab, oysters, fish, all of it. My brother and the others can’t. Can you call a few helpers from your place?”
Dorian stood up and said calmly, “No need. Ares and I can do it.”
“What?” Arden stared. “You can?”
“Yeah. Don’t believe me? Come see.”

Celine didn’t believe it either. “Since when do you cook? You sure you won’t cut your hand?”
Cassian and Theo were just as shocked. “Dorian, don’t overdo it, Cassian teased. “Wouldn’t want you embarrassing yourself.”
“And Ares,” Theo added, “those hands really meant for knives?”
Dorian ignored them, stood up, and called to Arden, “Come check”
“Oh.” Arden hesitated, then followed. She was genuinely curious.
Ares stood as well and looked at Ruby. “You coming?”
“Why not?” Ruby said. “I’ve chased you this long, never knew you could cook.”
She clapped her hands. “Ladies, let’s go watch these two big shots handle seafood.”
Isla and Celine immediately jumped up,
spectators.
Croited for the show. Cassian, Theo, and Damon followed like
Dorian and Ares rolled up their sleeves, loosened their collars, and headed into the kitchen.
Arden watched as Dorian’s defined forearm lifted. He pulled on gloves, picked up a crab, grabbed the scissors and started cutting cleanly, without hesitation.
