pter 27 Under the Same Roof

Still in her sleepwear, Arden immediately ran to the master bedroom across the hall.

Water was running in the bathroom. The bed that had once been dressed in gray sheets and a gray comforter was now made up with pale yellow bedding.

What was this man up to?

Before she could process it, Dorian stepped out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around his waist. His hair was still wet, another towel draped casually in his hand. When he saw Arden standing there in a short–sleeved sleep shirt, he lifted an eyebrow.

“Done washing?” Dorian asked. He roughly towel–dried his hair. “Get ready for bed. You’re coming to the office with me tomorrow.”

Arden turned at the sound of his voice and asked, “Where are my sheets and comforter?”

“What, you still want separate rooms?” he replied coolly. “Did I say that was allowed?”

No matter what, sleeping with Arden in his arms gave him the best rest he’d had in years. It even fixed his long–standing insomnia.

‘Mr. Vale,” Arden said, stepping closer, “didn’t you say you don’t like me? Then why insist on sleeping together?”

She kept advancing. Dorian instinctively stepped back until he hit the door. He leaned against it lazily and clicked his tongue. “We’re legally married. I have needs. Separate rooms aren’t happening.”

As soon as he finished speaking, he pulled her toward him and switched positions, pressing Arden back against the door.

One hand braced above her head against the door. The other settled at her waist. He had just showered. Water still clung to his face and chest, his upper body bare, his build and definition impossible to ignore.

Without thinking, Arden’s gaze drifted downward. This man really did have endless energy every night.

That glance did her no favors. She noticed the knot of his towel loosening. The fabric was slowly slipping.

Dorian hadn’t noticed. He was looking down at her, clearly amused.

Arden was just about to warn him. “Your towel is coming loose.”

The next second, it fell to the floor. Startled, Arden yelped and immediately covered her eyes with both hands. “Dorian, are you doing this on purpose? Are you shameless?”

Seeing her standing there with her eyes squeezed shut, hands covering her face, Dorian found it ridiculous. He calmly picked up the towel and wrapped it back around himself.

He teased her casually. “Arden, what part of me haven’t you already seen? And that thing you’re embarrassed about, you’ve used it plenty of times. What are you shy for? You even grabbed it before.”

“Dorian,” Arden snapped, “what kind of filthy talk is that? Stop talking and cover up already. I don’t care to

see it.”

Oh my god. This is horrifying.

Seeing her ears flushed pink, Dorian found it endlessly entertaining. He reached out and pulled her hands down. “Alright. Open your eyes.”

She barely dared to. She cracked them open slightly, and only after seeing he was properly wrapped again did she fully relax.

She fanned herself with her hand, feeling overheated, then walked toward the bed. She bent down and opened the second drawer of the nightstand to take out a hair dryer.

As she bent over, a sliver of her waist showed.

It’s slim. Her legs were pale and smooth.

She sat down and began drying her hair. Dorian, satisfied with his teasing, headed to the study to handle some work.

Once he left, Arden finally let out a breath. After drying her hair, she collapsed onto the bed and tried to fall asleep.

But she couldn’t. An hour later, Dorian returned after finishing work. When he looked toward the bed, Arden looked back at him.

“What, you can’t sleep without me here?” Dorian asked.

His hair was dry now, soft and slightly tousled, giving him a lazy air. Unfortunately, his mouth was still just as sharp.

“Not at all,” Arden replied quickly.

She just wasn’t used to sleeping beside him.

“Why am I going to the office with you tomorrow?” she asked, sitting up since sleep clearly wasn’t happening.

“You’ll have to ask Grandma and Mom,” Dorian said. “They call me every day insisting I arrange a position for you.”

He walked around to the other side of the bed and sat down. Arden could feel the mattress dip beside her.

“But don’t expect special treatment,” he added coolly. “Bring your resume. You’ll interview like everyone else.”

Heartless man.

“I didn’t apply to your company,” Arden said. “And I don’t want to work at Vale Group.”

“Then tell Grandma and Mom yourself,” Dorian replied. “So they stop pestering me.”

Arden straightened. “Fine. I will.”

She immediately took out her phone and opened the group chat with Theresa and Eugenia.

Arden typed, “Mom, Grandma, are you asleep?”

Theresa replied quickly, “Not yet. Arden, what’s wrong? Did Dorian not come home tonight?”

Finished

She knew her son’s temperament well. With several residences around the city, he didn’t always return to Silverbay Villa.

Eugenia sent a series of dramatic emojis. “Arden, did Dorian bully you?”

Touched, Arden hurried to reply. “No, no. I just wanted to tell you both that I don’t want to work at Vale Group.”
