Vickie finally couldn't take it anymore. Ever since becoming a celebrity, she was used to being worshipped by everyone. She simply couldn't handle such blatant disrespect. "Sir, I have always respected you. Even three years ago, when you forced your way into his marriage decisions, I never said a single bad word."
"But you have no right to insult me like this. I come from a good family. I'm a respectable, decent girl."
Karl let out a cold laugh. "Respectable? Decent? If those words were alive, they'd be crying from how badly you're misusing them."
"Xavier, I'm warning you. There is a limit to this nonsense. The Farrell family has a clean reputation, and I absolutely refuse to let you drag us onto the trending pages with some sketchy woman! We cannot afford that kind of humiliation!"
Unable to stay in the room a second longer, Vickie covered her face and ran out sobbing.
"Vickie!" Xavier immediately started to stand up.
Karl's voice cracked like a whip. "If you dare step one foot out of this room to chase her, don't ever call me your grandfather again!"
Xavier stiffened. Pressing his lips into a hard line, he slowly sat back down.
The atmosphere in the private room turned suffocatingly heavy. It was hard to even breathe.
Sensing the tension, Evelyn quickly spoke up to defuse it. "Should we order? I'm actually getting a little hungry."
"If you're hungry, have some pastries first. Our guest will be here shortly." The anger vanished from Karl's face, replaced by a warm, affectionate smile as he pushed a plate of delicate pastries and a cup of tea toward her.
Evelyn took a bite and asked curiously, "Who exactly is coming today? Who managed to get a personal invitation from you?"
"It's your mother-in-law's nephew. And, more importantly, the man I've set up for your blind date today."
"Pfft—!"
