“How is that possible?” Vanessa blurted out. “We had everything worked out with Mr. Quinn yesterday! Could you let us speak with him one more time?”

“I’m sorry.”

The secretary apologized again.

“I’ll escort you out. Mr. Quinn has other appointments today.”

Vanessa remained seated, unable to move.

She couldn’t understand it.

Why had everything involving the Sutton family’s business been going so badly lately?

It was as though the invisible force that had always protected Sutton Group had suddenly disappeared.

Now even a company like Quinn’s refused to work with them.

Seeing that she wasn’t getting up, Samuel quickly pulled her to her feet, worried she’d make a

scene.

“Let’s head back first. Didn’t we exchange contact information with Mr. Quinn yesterday? We’ll ask him after we get back. If we cause trouble here, we’ll completely lose any chance of working together.”

After one setback after another, Vanessa’s temper had grown noticeably worse. She had already lashed out at most of the employees at the company.

Still, she listened to Samuel and left with him, following the secretary outside.

As they reached the entrance of the building, they spotted Natasha Fleming.

Vanessa shot Samuel a meaningful glance.

Natasha had originally planned to play dumb and brush them off.

Meanwhile, Iris Noir and Bella headed to Nevaris‘ famous harbor.

As a coastal city, Nevaris was best known for its luxury cruise ships.

Ares Barclay had finished handling his business and said he’d be coming to Nevaris that afternoon to meet her.

Bella purchased VIP tickets, which came with access to a private lounge–a far more pleasant experience than standing in the endless lines with the regular tourists outside.

She handed Iris a brochure.

“Look! They even have a buffet onboard, and there are flowers everywhere. It’s so pretty!”

Then something occurred to her.

“Oh! This is the kind of place you should come with your fiancé!”

The atmosphere onboard practically screamed candlelit dinner.

Another familiar face happened to be sitting inside the VIP lounge.

Olivia had hired a local guide for her sightseeing trip. The two of them were also waiting to board the cruise.

Their seats were diagonally across from Iris’s, and neither of them noticed she was there.
