Chapter 15 Destroy Her Gown
Chapter 15 Destroy Her Gown
Three days later, the Caldwell Gala finally arrived.
Although the event itself wasn’t until afternoon, hair, makeup, and styling would take hours
As a result, Iris was forced to wake up far carlier than she preferred.
She silenced her alarm and sat up.
Then immediately noticed something wrong.
The gown hanging nearby had been slashed.
A long tear ran through the skirt.
The once-perfect fabric now hung in ruined strips.
A knock sounded downstairs.
Is Iris still sleeping?”
Eleanor and Chloe were already dressed.
Only Iris was missing.
Moments later, Iris emerged from her room carrying the damaged gown.
Eleanor looked confused.
“Why aren’t you getting ready?”
Then she saw the dress.
And went speechless.
“Oh my God.”
1 She took it from Iris and examined the damage.
“How did this happen?” Her expression grew increasingly distressed. “Maybe it snagged on something during the fitting.”
She immediately reached for her phone.
“We’ll send it back to the boutique. Maybe they can repair it.”
Iris shook her head.
“There’s not enough time.”

The gala began in less than three hours.
Coc quickly hid the smile threatening to appear.
Then she moved beside Eleanor and slipped her arm through hers.
“Don’t worry, Mom.” Her voice was sweet and helpful. “I have plenty of dresses.”
She glanced at Iris.
“Most of them have only been worn once. If necessary, my sister can borrow one.
Eleanor hesitated.
Honestly, it wasn’t a bad idea.
The gown was beyond repair.
And she didn’t want to leave Iris behind.
Still…
Her eyes moved toward her daughter.
Iris had barely spoken since discovering the damage.
Surely she was upset.
And now they’d ask her to wear her younger sister’s old dress?
Just as Eleanor struggled with the decision, Iris finally spoke.
“Mom. She looked up calmly. “Do we have any matching fabric left?”
Eleanor blinked.
“Fabric?”
“The boutique included some spare material.”
“And embroidery thread?”
“Yes…”
Confusion filled her voice.
“We have both. Why?”
Iris extended her hand.
“I’ll fix it.”

Chloe’s eyes widened.
“Sis!” She frowned. “This gala is important. What we wear reflects on the entire Noir family,
Her concern sounded sincere.
“Maybe you shouldn’t alter it yourself.”
Iris glanced at her.
Cold.
Sharp.
“I don’t wear secondhand clothes.”
The words hit harder than Chloe expected.
For a split second, panic flashed across her face.
Did Iris know?
No.
Impossible
“I was only trying to help. Her voice sounded weaker now. “Why would you say that?”
Iris held her gaze.
Then calmly replied:

“Or…” A faint smile touched her lips. “We could investigate exactly how the dress got damaged in the first | place.”
Silence.
Chloe’s face turned pale.
And for the first time that morning, she stopped talking.
Richard still looked worried.
“Iris…”

“Don’t worry, Dad.” Holding the damaged gown in her hands, she added calmly. I’ll make it better”
Chloe nearly rolled her eyes.
Better?
The arrogance was unbelievable.
Did Iris even understand what she was saying?
That gown had been custom-made by one of the most prestigious couture houses in the Capital.
Was she seriously claiming she could improve the work of a top designer?
Eleanor still looked uncertain.
“Iris, hair and makeup alone will take nearly an hour.” She checked the time anxiously. “That leaves maybe ninety minutes at most.”
“That’s enough.”
Seeing how determined her daughter was, Eleanor finally gave in. She instructed the staff to gather whatever materials Iris needed.
The house happened to have a sewing room used for alterations and garment care. There was even an older industrial sewing machine tucked away inside.
After entering the room, Iris examined the spare fabric the boutique had provided.
There was enough.
More than enough.
She already had a design in mind.

Carefully selecting matching fabric, embroidery thread, and trim, she began working.
Soon, the room filled with the sounds of scissors cutting fabric and the rhythmic hum of a sewing machine.
Richard and Eleanor exchanged surprised looks.
She actually knew how to sew?
That part alone had caught them off guard.
Of course, neither of them held much hope for the gown itself.
Just in case. Eleanor contacted the boutique and asked whether any ready-made gowns in a similar size
