Fake Daughter Is The Real Legend (Iris Sutton) novel Chapter 163

Chapter 163 Mistress

The instant Vanessa saw Iris’s face, her anger exploded.

She rushed over in three quick strides, raising her hand to slap her across the face.

Emily was completely stunned.

Before the blow could land, Iris caught Vanessa’s wrist with one hand.

mashed

“What are you doing?” Aunt Layla cried out, hurrying between them to separate the two. “Why are you hitting her? Who are you?”

Vanessa let out a cold laugh. “Who am I? I raised this ungrateful brat for twenty years!”

Her eyes swept over the apron Iris was wearing.

“So this is how you repay me?”

“Call Miss Fleming right now and get the partnership with the Sutton family restored.”

“Otherwise… Don’t blame me for what happens next.”

Iris loosened her grip and casually flicked Vanessa’s wrist aside.

Caught off balance, Vanessa stumbled several steps sideways.

When Iris had asked Natasha Fleming to handle the matter, it was specifically to keep Vanessa and her family from coming after her.

She hadn’t expected them to find out anyway.

“The Quinn Group ending its partnership with the Sutton family was their own decision,” Iris said calmly. “Your company has its own problems.”

Vanessa glared at her. “Who are you trying to fool? If you hadn’t asked Miss Fleming to talk to the Quinn Group, they never would’ve canceled the deal!”

It was true that Iris had asked Natasha to speak with the president of the Quinn Group.

But all Natasha had done was give him a heads–up.

Once he reviewed the Sutton family’s financial records himself, he’d broken out in a cold sweat.

The company was clearly on its last legs.

  1. Mistres

The Suttons had only shown him the glory days from years past. In just the last six months. the business had been in obvious decline. Partners were terminating contracts one after another. Cash flow was drying up.

It was obvious they were hoping to latch onto the Quinn Group and drain it for survival.

Iris couldn’t be bothered to argue. She simply turned around and went back into the courtyard to continue making chestnut cakes.

Seeing how completely unmoved she was, Vanessa sneered. “Are you going to make that call or not? Don’t forget where you are. This is a tiny village in Ashford County. If I start telling everyone here what you’ve done, do you think you’ll still have the nerve to stay?”

By now, curious villagers had gathered around Aunt Layla’s courtyard, craning their necks to watch the spectacle.

During the commotion, Emily quietly slipped inside the house. She now stood behind the window, silently observing everything happening outside.

Iris turned around to face Vanessa. “What exactly are you talking about?”

“Big Sister!”

Olivia squeezed through the crowd and hurried to Vanessa’s side.

The village was rundown. She hated walking through the dirt. But that didn’t stop her from enjoying the show.

Seeing Iris living in a place like this, helping a village woman make pastries, filled her with satisfaction.

Serves her right.

She’d stolen the first twenty years of Olivia’s privileged life.

Pretending to cough delicately, Olivia smiled.

“The air here is nice. But after spending your first twenty years living such a luxurious life, you must not be used to a place like this, right?”

Aunt Layla stood awkwardly at the doorway, holding a tray. She had no idea whether she should step in or back away.

Unable to make sense of the situation, she cautiously asked, “Um… what are you two here for? Buying chestnut cakes?”

Vanessa rolled her eyes. “Chestnut cakes? No. You should worry about your daughter instead.”

Unlike her mother, Olivia wasn’t interested in threatening Iris. She simply wanted to watch her squirm.

“Big Sister, she said sweetly, “didn’t you find yourself a rich old man in Capital City? If he’s so wealthy, why didn’t you bring your family there to live with you?”

Now Aunt Layla looked even more confused. She walked over beside Iris.

“Ins… do you know these people?”

“I don’t.”

With a click of her tongue, Aunt Layla set down the tray, picked up a broom, and marched into the courtyard.

“What exactly are you here for?”

“Looking for trouble?”

“She already said she doesn’t know you!”

Afraid of getting smacked with the broom, Vanessa grabbed Olivia’s arm and retreated repeatedly until they were forced outside the courtyard gate.

“I knew it! You’re trying to protect your daughter!” Vanessa shouted angrily. “Do you even know what she’s been doing out there? She’ll do anything for money! She throws herself at wealthy

men,

A neighbor called over the wall, “Aunt Layla, since when do you have a daughter? I thought you only had two sons.”

Aunt Layla was growing irritated herself. Where had this mysterious daughter suddenly come from? Wasn’t this woman ruining her reputation now?

Then…

She slowly turned to look at Iris.

“I’m talking about her! She cost our family a business deal worth tens of millions of dollars! What do you all think should be done about that?”

Aunt Layla hadn’t understood most of what Vanessa said. But the words tens of millions immediately intimidated her.

“Iris… Tens of millions is a lot of money…”

“Aunt Layla.” Iris remained perfectly calm as she carried over a basin of freshly prepared chestnut filling. “The filling is ready.”
