“Redemption vouchers?”

Vincent nodded. “That’s right. One is for a large escape–room company invested in by the Noir Group. You can go with your friends.”

The voucher from Ares was for a luxury formalwear boutique.

The idea had started when Vincent overheard a group of girls discussing a novel one day.

According to them, wealthy people were always giving money and cards as gifts, and it was getting boring. The recipients would eventually lose interest.

Sitting on Vincent’s other side, Chloe stared out the car window, pretending to admire the scenery.

In reality, she wished she could open the door and shove Iris right out of the moving vehicle.

For the entire ride, no one had asked about her exam results.

Everything was about Iris.

The few compliments she had received earlier were only because everyone had mistakenly believed she was the national top scorer.

Praise that should have belonged to Iris.

What Chloe didn’t realize was that Richard and Eleanor had intentionally avoided asking about her score.

They were worried she might feel embarrassed and were trying to spare her feelings.

But all Chloe felt was that she was drifting farther and farther away from the Noir family.

As soon as they returned home, Richard enthusiastically instructed the staff to prepare an extravagant dinner.

Tonight was supposed to be a proper celebration for Iris.

The moment Iris entered her room, her phone rang.

It was Ares.

“Congratulations, Miss Top Scorer.”

The unusual title made Iris laugh.

Hearing her laughter somehow made the mountain of paperwork on Ares’s desk seem a little less irritating.

“Did you receive the gift? I asked Vincent to deliver it. It should come in handy for your celebration banquet.”

“I got it.”

Ares persuaded her to turn on video chat.

Looking at the girl on the screen with her delicate features and bright eyes, he was just about to say something when Eleanor suddenly opened the door.

“Iris… oh, you’re video chatting with Ares?”

She smiled.

Good.

She had once worried that Iris wasn’t very experienced with relationships.

Now, seeing the two of them acting so naturally together was oddly reassuring.

“Hello, Aunt.” Ares greeted her politely.

“Ares, would you like to come over for dinner tonight? Uncle Richard hired a private chef to celebrate Iris’s achievement.”

“Of course.”

“Perfect.”

Then Eleanor suddenly remembered something.

“Oh, Iris, is there anything special you’d like for dinner? I’ll let the kitchen know.”

Iris liked plenty of dishes. She was still deciding which ones to mention when Ares calmly rattled off a list.

Every single one of them was her favorite.

“Alright, alright, I got it. You two keep talking.”

Noticing the faint blush spreading across Iris’s cheeks, Eleanor wisely decided not to tease her any further.

She closed the door behind her as she left.

“You still have a lot of work to finish, don’t you?”

A moment earlier, Ares had reached for something, causing the camera to shift and reveal a mountain of documents stacked beside him.

“It’s fine.”

“I’m almost done.”

“I’ll still make it in time for dinner.”

Unlike Iris, whose definition of punctuality was arriving exactly on time down to the second, Ares always arrived five minutes early.

This time, however, he showed up at the Noir residence ten minutes ahead of schedule.

And, as usual, carrying a pile of gifts.

“This child…” Eleanor shook her head helplessly. “Every time you visit, you bring so many things. We really don’t lack anything.”

Ares smiled. “Whether the family needs them or not is one thing. Whether I want to give them is another. These are specifically for Iris.”

Having only just finished putting away the gifts she’d already received, Iris came downstairs and found another stack waiting.

The storage room that had been set aside exclusively for gifts was nearly full.

At this point, it resembled an ancient royal treasury.
