Chapter 224 The Blind–date Stage
“Do you understand?”
When Rumi remained silent, Evelyn repeated the question with remarkable patience.

“Yes.” Rumi finally nodded. “Don’t worry, Mom. It’s all in the past. I’ll move on and live my life properly.”
Evelyn had clearly decided she wasn’t letting the subject go tonight, so Rumi had no choice but to givea definitive answer.
“Wait a minute.” Evelyn suddenly frowned. “Where’s Julie?”
The two women had been so focused on discussing old matters that they hadn’t noticed until now.
Julie hadn’t gotten into the car.
At that moment, Julie was happily walking with her arm linked through Iris’s, chatting about the iron artwork she’d been learning from Edmund Ashcroft.
She happened to glance up just in time to see her family’s car accelerate away right in front of her.
“Julie, did your family’s car just…”
Eleanor tried very hard not to laugh.
Failed.
Then tried again.
“Why don’t you stay at our house tonight?” She smiled warmly. “You can spend time with Iris.”
Neither she nor Richard fully understood how it had happened. Somehow, Iris and Julie had become close friends almost overnight. Friendship worked in mysterious ways.
Julie’s eyes immediately lit up. “Really? I’d love that!”
And so she climbed into the same car as the Noir family and headed back with them.
Vincent and Iris weren’t particularly talkative people.
Julie, however, was their exact opposite.
The moment she got into the car, she picked up right where their earlier conversation had left off.
Usually, Chloe was responsible for keeping conversations lively during family rides.
Tonight, she had effectively been replaced.
All she could do was glare at Julie from the side.

Iris’s friends were just as annoying as Iris herself.

June had her own motives. She had disliked Chloe for a long time. If she could suppress her even little. she intended to enjoy every second of it.
Before long, Chloe discovered something unfortunate.
Julie could talk.
A lot.
At first, she had only been chatting with Iris.
Gradually, Eleanor joined in.
Even Vincent, who rarely spoke, contributed a few comments.
“I always thought Julie was such a quiet girl.” Eleanor laughed again. “I had no idea you were this entertaining.”
Julie scratched her cheek shyly. “That’s because I’m shy around strangers! Once I get comfortable, I’m not like that at all.”
Then she glanced at Iris.
“If Iris weren’t here, I’d probably be nervous the entire time.”
“These two really are close.” Eleanor smiled. “Julie, why don’t you sleep in Iris’s room tonight?”
Julie secretly looked toward Iris.
Seeing no objection, she immediately relaxed.
“Sounds good to me!”
She had wanted that from the start.
After arriving at the Noir residence, Eleanor instructed the kitchen to prepare hot drinks for the younger
guests.
Seeing how late it had become, she began encouraging everyone to head upstairs.
“Aunt Eleanor, we’re not sleepy yet!” Julie protested.
Eleanor laughed. “That’s fine. Let Iris give you a tour first.”
Then she turned toward Vincent.
“Vincent, come here for a moment. Have you finished reviewing those photos I gave you?”

Chapter 224 The Blind–date Stage
Julie had been pushing Iris toward the stairs.
The moment she heard that question, she froze.
Vincent removed his suit jacket and handed it to a servant.
Then he sat on the sofa and rubbed the bridge of his nose.
“No.”

“That won’t do.” Eleanor launched into a speech she’d clearly given many times before. “How old are you now? It’s not that we’re against you finding someone naturally. But you haven’t found anyone. Blind dates aren’t embarrassing. Think of them as expanding your social circle.”
As she spoke, she somehow produced another stack of photographs.
“These were given to me by friends from the banquet.” She placed them in front of him. “Pick one. Set up a meeting.”
The truth was that Eleanor didn’t want to watch Vincent become nothing but a workaholic machine.
A little romance would do him good.
Vincent looked down at the photos.
Meanwhile, his mind was busy calculating whether moving overseas again would solve this problem.
If Iris weren’t currently living at home, he might have been on a plane by tomorrow morning. “Wow.” Julie grinned. “I actually called it. Your brother has reached the blind–date stage.”
She tugged Iris toward the staircase and began shamelessly eavesdropping. “Interesting.”
“Julie? Iris?“Chloe’s voice suddenly rang out behind them. “Are you two spying?”
Julie closed her eyes.
How had she forgotten there was still an annoying Chloe–shaped obstacle in this house?
Immediately, they looked toward the staircase.
“You should spend more time worrying about your own boyfriend.” Vincent’s response was calm.
