Iris gently pulled her hand free from Olivia’s grip, causing Olivia to stumble and nearly fall.

“I was on my way back to the dorm. Those two were harassing me.”

Standing beside President Wade was Ethan’s faculty advisor. She shot him a glare.

“What exactly is going on here? Who told you it was okay to harass a female student?”

Ethan remained silent, but Olivia immediately jumped in.

“Iris was trying to seduce my boyfriend! He wasn’t harassing her!”

“He wasn’t harassing me?” Iris pointed toward the security booth nearby. “The surveillance cameras are right there. If you really think he wasn’t harassing me, we can check the footage and see exactly who was chasing whom.”

“Fine! Let’s do it!”

Olivia started toward the security booth, only for Ethan to grab her arm.

“Stop making a scene.”

The truth was that he didn’t have much ground to stand on. He really had followed Iris all the way back. But with school administrators present, there was no way he could admit that.

“Ethan, what’s going on?” his advisor pressed.

She was anxious for him to show some common sense. After all, the university president was standing right there.

Ethan could only defend himself.

“I saw Iris walking ahead of me and wanted to say hello. We’re both members of the Capital City Violin Association.”

President Wade turned to Iris.

“Is that true, Iris?”

“We’re in the same association, yes. But we only know each other’s names. We’re not close at all, and there was no reason for Ethan to come over and greet me.”

By that point, everyone more or less understood what had happened.

The advisor looked at Ethan again, disappointment written all over her face.

Ethan never imagined that a brief encounter like this would cost him the award he’d spent so long working toward.

President Wade’s words also reminded everyone of something.

“Wait, doesn’t Iris already have a boyfriend?”

“I’ve seen him before. He’s ridiculously handsome!”
