Her long bangs still hung over her eyes, and she was dressed in a loose tracksuit. When she saw Iris enter, she nodded in greeting.
“Mr. Liam told us to wait in the room next door. He said he’ll be here in ten minutes.”
“Okay.”
Iris nodded and followed her toward the adjacent classroom.
Walking ahead, Iris reached the room Mr. Liam had mentioned and was about to push open the glass door when Celeste suddenly shoved her aside.
“Watch out!”
In the next instant, the glass in front of them exploded.
The entire door shattered, sending a shower of razor-sharp fragments flying toward them.
For a split second, Iris realized that Celeste had stepped in front of her, trying to shield her with her own body.
Fortunately, Iris reacted quickly enough. She grabbed Celeste and rolled out of the way, preventing either of them from suffering fatal injuries.
The deafening crash immediately drew the attention of the other association members, especially those who had been in the middle of a meeting.
By the time Mr. Liam arrived and saw the floor covered in broken glass and streaks of blood, his vision nearly went black.
He quickly had Iris and Celeste escorted away from the area and moved into a larger, safer room nearby to rest. He also instructed his assistant to bring them each a glass of water.
Serious injuries were rare within the association. Most of its members were devoted to music and art, and physical altercations were virtually unheard of. As a result, there was no on-site medical staff.
Mr. Liam was about to send someone to fetch a doctor when Iris stopped him.
“Is there a first-aid kit here? I can handle some basic treatment.”
When Celeste had pushed her away, her hand had been pierced by several shards of glass. Blood covered her fingers and wrist.

“Yes. I’ll have someone bring it.”

Since nothing like this had ever happened before, everyone was flustered and scrambling.
After searching for a while, one of the members finally located the first-aid kit and brought it
over.
Fortunately, while there was no doctor on site, the association kept a well-stocked supply of medical materials. Iris carefully cleaned and disinfected Celeste’s wounds before bandaging them and stopping the bleeding.
“Mr. Liam.”
The member responsible for cleaning up the shattered glass entered the room to call for him.
Mr. Liam stood up.
“I need to take care of something. You two rest here for now.”
The door closed behind him, leaving only Iris and Celeste in the classroom.
Looking at Celeste’s heavily bandaged hand, Iris said,
“Until the scabs form and fall off naturally, you shouldn’t play the violin. The glass injured your hand pretty badly.”
“I know.” Celeste lowered her head. Her bangs concealed her expression.
Iris disinfected the minor cuts on her own hands. Compared to Celeste’s injuries, hers were barely worth mentioning.
After closing the first-aid kit, she asked,
“Did you know there was something wrong with that glass?”
Celeste’s reaction had been far too fast-so fast that it felt unnatural.
Celeste shook her head. “I don’t know who did it.”
“Then what do you know about what happened today?”
Celeste raised her head. Her eyes stared at Iris from behind the curtain of hair.
“You’re
very observant. But the truth is, I only noticed that there was something wrong with the
glass. I don’t know who tampered with it.”
“The glass was tampered with?”

Celeste stood and walked to the door. While this door wasn’t made of glass, there was a small glass window beside it.
Pointing at the pane, she explained,
“My family used to manufacture glass. If this type of glass has been tampered with, there are usually signs in this area.”
She tapped a specific spot near the edge.
“My hair may get in the way, but my eyesight is actually very good.”
