After confirming that the glass in his office was safe, Mr. Liam brought Iris there to continue training.
Celeste followed them inside as well.
Even Mr. Liam found it surprising. On their own, neither of them seemed like the type who enjoyed working closely with others, yet neither appeared to mind the other’s company.
“I don’t know whether today’s incident was an accident or deliberate sabotage,” he said. “Either way, both of you need to be careful. If someone did this intentionally, there’s a good chance you’re the targets.”
When training ended, Mr. Liam added,
“For the next few days, try to stay together whenever you’re at the association. Go places as a pair, look out for each other. And…”
He hesitated.
What he wanted to say was that they should be wary of people within the association itself.
But he couldn’t bring himself to say it aloud.
Celeste seemed to understand exactly what he was thinking. She walked over to Iris and said,
“Let’s try to eat together and come and go together these next few days.”
That was more or less what Iris had been planning anyway, so she agreed.
The two had just arrived at the cafeteria when someone called out from behind them.
“Iris! Why didn’t you wait for us today before coming to the cafeteria?”
Zara and two other girls jogged over, automatically ignoring Celeste’s presence.
“Perfect timing. Let’s eat together. We went up to the top floor looking for you and heard something happened. Are you okay?”
“I’m fine. Today I’m with Celeste. Her hand is injured, so it’s not very convenient for her to get food.”
Zara glanced at Celeste before reluctantly agreeing.
While they were picking up food, she exchanged a look with the two girls beside her. The other

two immediately started chatting with Celeste, while Zara stayed by Iris’s side.

As casually as she could, she asked, “By the way, where’s Ethan today? Is something going on with him?”
“I don’t know. Our dorm buildings are pretty far apart.”
A trace of disappointment flashed across Zara’s face. “Oh. I see.”
“You seem pretty interested in Ethan.”
“Not at all. I just noticed he wasn’t around and got curious.” Her gaze drifted to Iris’s hand. “Today’s incident was really dangerous. If something had happened to you, you wouldn’t have been able to attend the exchange conference.”
Carrying her tray, Iris nodded.
“Exactly. It was really dangerous. Who would’ve expected the glass in that classroom to suddenly shatter?”
Zara immediately followed her lead.
“Yeah. The glass in Classroom 03 has never been very sturdy. Hardly anyone uses that room anymore. Maybe the glass had just deteriorated over time.”
Apparently unwilling to continue discussing the subject, she quickly changed topics and began asking Iris technical questions about violin performance.
There were still five of them eating together.
Zara wanted to sit alone with Iris at a two-person table, but Iris walked directly toward Celeste instead.
“I’m taking care of Celeste today. She got hurt pushing me out of the way.”
Zara and her two followers ended up sitting at a nearby table.
One of the girls tried to comfort her.
“It’s okay, boss. Iris probably just feels guilty because Celeste got hurt saving her. That’s why she wants to take care of her today. It doesn’t mean your relationship has gotten worse.”
Zara absently gripped her spoon.
Something felt different.
Iris’s attitude toward her today wasn’t quite the same as yesterday’s, but she couldn’t figure out

what had changed.
Was she just overthinking things?

Meanwhile, Iris and Celeste sat across from each other.

Since Celeste couldn’t easily carry food with her injured hand, Iris had brought her tray to the table.
She had even deliberately chosen lighter dishes that would help with wound recovery.
“Thank you,” Celeste said.
Then she asked,
“Have you figured out who tampered with the glass?”
Iris calmly picked up a bite of food. “I’ve pretty much confirmed it.”
“Already? How?” Celeste looked genuinely shocked.
