Fake Daughter Is The Real Legend (Iris Sutton) novel Chapter 73

Chapter 73 Alive

Iris turned and started toward Zane’s direction.

Before she could take two steps, someone grabbed her wrist.

“Take my car.” Ares’s voice was calm. “It’s faster.”

“…Okay.”

Inside the car, Iris lowered the fold–out table with practiced ease.

She pulled a miniature projection keyboard from her backpack and quickly assembled a compact mobile workstation.

Ares sat quietly beside her, watching.

Several keystrokes later, the Foundation Class security footage appeared on her phone.

She rewound the timeline.

Then stopped.

A familiar figure appeared at the classroom door.

“That’s the daughter from the Cole family, isn’t she?” Ares had moved closer at some point.

He recognized Hannah immediately.

Iris nodded.

On–screen, Hannah sat quietly reviewing her notes.

Everything looked normal.

Ten minutes passed.

Then Hannah received a phone call.

Moments later, she hurriedly packed her bag, turned off the lights, and ran out of the

classroom.

She never returned.

Iris switched to the hallway cameras, only for her expression to darken almost immediately. Someone had tampered with the system. The footage showed obvious signs of being edited and replaced.

Exiting the surveillance feed, she packed away the keyboard and opened another application. A blinking red dot appeared on the screen.

Hannah was still on campus.

Fortunately, she was still wearing the watch Iris had given her.

The signal led straight to the alley outside the school entrance.

Without hesitation, Julian slammed the accelerator to the floor.

The storm continued to rage around Capital Preparatory Academy, forcing them to stop near the mouth of the alley when the car could go no farther.

Rainwater had washed the pavement clean, and the white stone tiles gleamed beneath the streetlights. A storm drain near the entrance carried away muddy water streaked with faint traces of red.

Not far away, a schoolgirl lay curled beside a pile of discarded boxes.

Blood spread beneath her body, a thin crimson trail snaking slowly across the ground until it reached Iris’s feet.

Iris froze.

She knew Hannah was still alive. She knew she needed to move. She was a doctor–she should have rushed to Hannah’s side without a second thought.

Yet her feet remained rooted to the ground.

The blood before her overlapped with another scene buried deep in her memories. The metallic scent of iron filled the air, dragging her back to the past until her mind went completely blank.

“Iris.”

“Are you okay?”

A hand rested gently on her shoulder as a deep, soothing voice sounded behind her. At the same time, the familiar scent of cedar drifted toward her.

Familiar.

Very familiar.

Had she smelled it somewhere before?

At some point, Ares had moved closer, holding the umbrella over both of them.

It was as if Iris had suddenly awakened from a nightmare.

She hurried to Hannah’s side and crouched beside her. After a quick examination, she immediately began issuing instructions.

“Julian, get her into the car. Take her to the hospital.”

Julian had been standing nearby, uncertain whether he should step in. The moment Iris spoke, he sprang into action.

He rushed forward, carefully lifted Hannah onto his back, and ran toward the vehicle.

Before Axel even reached the school, Iris redirected him to St. Grace Medical Center.

He rushed into the building completely soaked, his clothes drenched from the storm.

“Xavier! How’s Hannah?”
