“Thorn Pack members?” I scoffed and retorted immediately, “You’re talking about those who constantly make life tough for their son’s mate and treat their brother’s mate like a servant? If that’s what your so- called ‘pack members’ are, who wouldn’t consider it bad luck and try to avoid them?”
Anna was left speechless, her face turning as gloomy as a storm cloud. Grace was about to chime in to support her, but I stepped right up to her. The dominant aura I unconsciously projected made her take a half-step back. “You were talking about me when you mentioned freeloaders and not being able to carry on the bloodline, weren’t you?”
Anna forced a calm tone and said, “Natalie, don’t forget you were an orphan when you married into the pack! And there’s the issue of your health…”
“First of all, I’ve been responsible for nearly 90% of the Richardson Group’s performance over the past two years,” I cut her off icily, a mocking smile on my face. “As for not being able to have pups…”
I paused for a moment and then stated clearly, “I’ve had a full-body check-up. I’m in perfect health, no fertility problems at all. If you don’t believe me, the medical report is on my phone. I can send it to you right now.”
My words hit them like a bombshell. Grace’s face paled instantly, and Anna was left stupefied.
“What did you say? You’re fine? That’s impossible… Landon adopted that kid because of you…” Grace couldn’t wrap her head around it.
Anna quickly seized the opportunity to attack. “Natalie, you’re lying! If you’re okay, then does that mean Landon has a problem since you two haven’t had a kid in two years?”
I said, narrowing my eyes with a knowing smile, “Could be. You really should ask Landon why, when I’m perfectly healthy, he hasn’t slept with me in two years and instead adopted an orphaned kid to deceive you all.”
Anna clapped a hand over her mouth, her eyes wide with shock and doubt.
Just then, Landon appeared behind me and caught what I’d said. His face turned deathly pale. He tried to compose himself. “Natalie, when did you have that check-up?”
Without even bothering to turn around, I said casually, “A while back.”
“Natalie, is that medical place reliable? The pre-bonding physical we had did show… But if you’re okay now, it might have been a misdiagnosis. That’s great news! But why didn’t you tell me earlier?” His voice was full of fake “surprise” and “concern”; his act was spot-on.
I glanced at him, almost tempted to give him a round of applause. “I just never got the chance. And I was also worried that maybe the problem wasn’t with me…” My eyes swept meaningfully over Grace before landing back on Landon. “After all, it was you who came up with the idea of adopting that kid.”
I said these things deliberately, making it pretty clear that the one with the problem all along was him!

My words made Grace and Anna look like they’d swallowed something disgusting. They fell silent right away. They’d been using this against me all this time. If the truth came out, Thorn Pack’s reputation would be in the dirt!
Grace immediately rounded on her son. “What’s going on here? I thought she couldn’t have kids!”
“Maybe it was a mistake.” Landon brushed her off coolly.
At this moment, Landon looked extremely awkward. But when he heard me say I was “worried about him”, a flicker of guilt and a hidden glimmer of delight flashed across his eyes. He reached out, trying to put his arm around me. “Natalie, there’s no way I’ve got a problem. If you’re still worried, I’ll go for a check-up myself.”
I dodged his touch and pushed open the hospital room door, shutting out the nauseating conversation outside for the time being. Inside, Louisa was sitting up in the bed, still looking a bit pale. But as soon as she saw me, she managed a kind smile.
