A few days ago, Penelope ordered me to contact a certain mysterious individual and pass along Leonardo’s itinerary. That was when I guessed she was planning to make a move against him.

Penelope’s standing in the business world might not be the highest, but her network truly spanned both sides of the law-especially internationally.

I only recently learned that before bonding with Alexander, Penelope had been involved with a major international figure. He was not a good man.

When legal methods failed, Penelope took a darker path. It was hard to say she didn’t have a hand in helping Alexander secure Moon-Shadowed Pack’s monopoly in Maritime City’s pharmaceutical industry all those years ago.

Back in the study, I closed the door and continued my report.

The Sanchez family had already sent people to Leonardo’s location. Fiona and Miranda were on their way. Ryan was attending an international summit. There was no news yet of his leaving.

I hadn’t expected things to go so smoothly.

Those people moved extremely fast. They acted in less than half a day after receiving Leonardo’s location info. I thought it would take at least a full day.

And the news coming in called it a mountain accident, though those people usually preferred tampering with vehicles.

But I didn’t care about the details. The result was what mattered.

A sneer touched my lips. “Ryan really is the most cold-hearted of Silver-Maned Pack. Could it be that with his son’s life hanging in the balance, his first reaction is still to stabilize the company?”

Samuel’s POV:

“Mother, is this really wise regarding the Sanchez family?” I couldn’t help asking. In my view, Silver-Maned Pack was still an important partner for us.

“Leonardo is protecting Natalie. I had no other choice,” Penelope said. She was in a good mood and didn’t scold me for speaking out of turn.

She walked to the liquor cabinet, took out a bottle, and brought two glasses as if to celebrate, handing one to me.

I hurried to pour the wine, but my brow was furrowed.

I said, “But even if something happens to Leonardo, and Silver-Maned Pack is preoccupied, I doubt Natalie will be affected.”

After seeing those, would Natalie still be so distracted over Leonardo that she’d make a mistake?

“Samuel, you’re still too young,” I said with a cold laugh, taking a sip of wine. “Do you think I’d leave Natalie an escape route?”

If Natalie left for Leonardo’s sake now, it would play right into my

hands.

But if Natalie ignored Leonardo’s situation, the people from Silver-Maned Pack would naturally be disappointed in her.

Once Natalie lost Silver-Maned Pack’s protection, dealing with her would be much easier.

No matter what choice Natalie made, the outcome wouldn’t be good for her.

A chill ran down my spine. I kept a smile on my face as I agreed, “Someone as arrogant as Natalie is no match for you, Mother. She’ll surely regret not listening to you and giving up Scott Group inheritance.”

Natalie’s POV:

The moment Matthew told me the news, my mind went blank. Only one thought filled my mind-I had to see Leonardo immediately and make sure he was okay.

I immediately had my assistant book the earliest possible flight. I was going straight to Leonardo.

If Matthew had been exaggerating and Leonardo’s injuries hadn’t been serious, Leonardo would have contacted me. Now, thinking back on Leonardo’s silence and Aaron’s evasiveness, fear completely overwhelmed my common sense.

I couldn’t calm down. I didn’t even have the presence of mind to continue talking to Matthew. I stood up abruptly, my legs nearly giving way.

Matthew saw that despite my efforts to stay calm, I was in no state to function. He quickly tried to comfort me, saying the news he got was also just rumors. Maybe Leonardo was already out of danger.
