Fake Mate Beta Rises to Alpha Heiress (Natalie and Landon) novel Chapter 283

Chapter 283 Feel Nothing for Someone

Landon’s POV:

I was desperately trying to block Natalie’s path when the lounge door swung open.

“Landon! Natalie!” Andrew and Eliana rushed out, followed by others eager for some drama. I saw surprise, awkwardness, and plain old curiosity in their eyes.

No one stepped forward except for Eliana. Seeing the crowd brought me a sliver of clarity, but my red-rimmed eyes and ragged breathing showed how close I was to losing it. Eliana gave me a look of pity. It made me feel even worse. Everyone knew how I felt about Natalie.

Someone from the crowd whispered, “Even if they had a fight, did she really have to wreck him like this?”

Natalie’s POV:

“Natalie! Do you remember me?” a woman called out.

I glanced at her. She looked familiar, and after a moment, I placed her-Eliana, a classmate from back in the day.

But I wasn’t in the mood for a reunion. I just wanted to get away from Landon.

“Landon, have you actually lost your mind?” I said, my voice low and steady. “How could you possibly think I’d want to start over with you?

“Listen. You lied to me for two years. I have no feelings left for you-not love, not even any

hate.

“A selfish, hypocritical person like you? I genuinely hope you and Aaliyah end up together forever. Even if you break your bond, it has nothing to do with me. If you felt even a shred of real remorse, you’d avoid me for the rest of your life.”

I didn’t raise my voice. I spoke each word clearly, and each one cut deeper than the last, slicing right through Landon’s facade.

A crowd had gathered now-not just old classmates, but other patrons, too.

When they heard me, the low murmurs started.

The news about Landon’s fake bond might not be widely known everywhere, but in certain circles within Maritime City, it had definitely caused a stir.

By saying his name and spelling it out, I’d just exposed him publicly.

That was exactly what I wanted-to make his disgrace a public spectacle.

The bar security hurried over, clearly worried that Landon might cause trouble.

Landon’s POV:

A murmur spread through the crowd. Whispers circled me-“Thorn Pack,” “fake bonded mate,” “that Natalie.” My name and my shame were laid bare under the lights. Security and the manager closed in, trying to get me to leave.

My blood ran cold. The last thread of my sanity snapped. Public humiliation? My pride? To hell with it all!

“No, Natalie! You’re lying to yourself and to me. I’ll make you remember you still love me.” I shook off the hands trying to hold me back. Like a crazed wolf, I lunged for her again.

I was going to kiss her, mark her, and use the most primal way to make her remember what we once had. Mom was right-I needed to claim her completely!

I wrapped my arms around her. That familiar but strange body sent a shudder through me. But the next instant, I was yanked away hard. Security swarmed me, seven or eight of them pinning me down. I fought and roared, my clothes torn and messy. I looked like a genuine madman, a loser. But I still kept trying to struggle toward Natalie.

Then, I heard her voice-cold and dripping with scorn, like a final verdict. “Landon, I have a bonded mate now. Of course, I don’t love you anymore.”

A bonded mate?

No! That was impossible!

“You can’t have a bonded mate. Where would you find an Alpha so fast? How long have you even known him?” I heard myself demanding, my voice shattered.

I remembered that vague silhouette at the Temple of the Moon Goddess. Panic clutched my heart.

But so what? If she would just come back!

“Natalie, even if you bonded with someone to hurt me or get revenge, I don’t care. Let’s call it even and start over, please!” I was shouting now. Classmates tried to pull me away, but I shoved them off.

“Natalie, don’t you remember your promise to me? You said you’d always forgive me, that you’d always stay by my side…” I cried out those last words, clinging to them like a final lifeline.

But she didn’t react. She just looked at me with empty eyes, at some distant past that had nothing to do with her.

Then, she turned. She didn’t hesitate and didn’t look back.

The crowd parted for her. She walked toward the light, while I was dragged back toward the dark room. I stretched my arm out, straining to grab onto something, but my fingers only swept through cold, empty air.

The woman who was once always with me whenever I needed her now felt far from me. Even when she was near, she seemed far away.

My Natalie… I could never touch her again.

Natalie’s POV:

A wave of relief came over me. Watching him in so much pain, I felt completely calm. In that moment, I finally understood what it truly meant to feel nothing for someone.

It meant I didn’t even have the desire to argue with him anymore. Seeing him, thinking of the past, it all felt like a lifetime ago.

I didn’t respond. I just turned and left. The crowd silently made a path, their gazes complicated. Behind me, Landon was still screaming my name, being dragged deeper into the private room. His outstretched hand could no longer reach me.
