Chapter 295 Asking for Death
Anna’s POV:

Pain exploded across my face, and the taste of blood filled my mouth. The bodyguards held me so tightly I couldn’t even struggle.
Moon-Shadowed Pack?
What was Natalie talking about?
Was she representing the Moon-Shadowed Pack?
Impossible!
That was absolutely impossible!
Natalie was just a mixed-blood werewolf from an orphanage! A low-rank Beta! How could she possibly be the heiress to the Moon-Shadowed Pack?
She was lying, hiring a few people to spout nonsense just to scare us?
I fought against the hands holding me, but my mouth was covered. I couldn’t make a sound, could only resist with my body.
My mind went blank. I could only watch helplessly as Natalie turned and walked into the venue.
As soon as Natalie left, her assistant waved at the bodyguards. “Teach them a lesson. Just don’t make a scene.”
The next second, James and I were roughly dragged away from the entrance and thrown onto the curb.
“Insult Ms. Scott again, and next time won’t be so gentle,” one growled, his fangs glinting. “Now get lost.”
I wanted to curse, but James clamped a hand over my mouth, bowing and nodding as the guards walked away.
Once they were gone, James yanked me back to the car. The moment the door closed, he slumped into the driver’s seat.
“Anna, are you insane?” he panted. “Natalie is a part of the Scott family, and you dared to curse at her? That’s asking for death! Thorn Pack is truly finished. Maybe you should just cut ties with your parents?”

His outrageous suggestion made me pinch his arm hard.

“Ow! What are you doing?” he yelped, his face twisting in pain. “I’m trying to help you! Don’t you realize you’ve offended the Moon-Shadowed Pack?”
“James,” I sneered. “You usually seem so sharp. How can you be so stupid now?
“Can’t you see? Natalie is just bluffing! Are there any pictures online of the Moon-Shadowed Pack heiress? Just because she says she’s the Scott family heiress, she is?”
James’ POV:
“If she’s the Scott family heiress, then I’m the world’s richest man!” Anna’s words were full of defiance.
But thinking about it, she had a point. Natalie had no proof. Maybe she was just lashing out to win an argument?
The biggest name at today’s summit was supposed to be the Moon-Shadowed Pack’s heiress. She could easily be making it up.
After some thought, I decided to verify it.
I pulled out my phone and called my supervisor, Albert Brown. He should be inside the venue by now. If the Scott family heiress were present, she’d surely be introduced. I could just ask.
The call connected quickly. Anna reached over and hit the speakerphone button.
“Mr. Brown,” I said.
Albert’s impatient voice came through. “Where are you? Not here yet? I told you this meeting is important. Don’t be late!”
“Right. I ran into a little trouble on the way. I’m afraid I can’t make it.” I didn’t explain the real situation to play it safe.
If Natalie really were the heiress, his first move would probably be to fire me.
“Unbelievable. A rare chance to see the world, and you mess it up!” he chided, about to hang up.
I quickly asked, “Mr. Brown, I’m curious about that Scott family heiress. Has she arrived?”
“You’re not even here, and you’re asking that?” The voice on the other end was annoyed.
The background noise was loud. I could faintly hear people discussing the Moon-Shadowed Pack heiress. I pressed, “Did you see the Scott family heiress?”

“Sort of, I guess,” Albert said vaguely.

“What was she wearing? What did she look like?” Anna couldn’t help but cut in. I shot her a glare and added, “Was she wearing a black coat, long hair, looks…”
“No, she was in a white dress suit. Look, I’m busy. Gotta go.” Albert had no patience to listen any longer and hung up suddenly.
The moment the call ended, Anna snorted a laugh. “Ouch, that hurts!” The movement tugged at the cut on her lip.
She winced, gently touching the wound. “See? I told you. Natalie could never be the Scott family heiress. She’s got some nerve, lying like that!”
“Yeah, you’re right.” I shook my head, feeling relieved. “I can’t believe Natalie even dared to impersonate the Moon-Shadowed Pack heiress.”
Aaliyah’s POV:
The traffic was terrible all the way. Cameron and I arrived at the registration desk just as the summit was about to start.
“Aaliyah!” I was hurrying to enter when I heard a familiar voice call my name.
I turned around, and my eyes widened in surprise-it was Grace and Louisa!
“What’s wrong?” Cameron asked, noticing I’d stopped.
“Some acquaintances from my time in Maritime City. I’ll catch up in a moment, Mr. Parker. Please go ahead without me,” I said.
Seeing my hesitation, Cameron nodded without asking more questions and went inside with his assistant.
Once he was gone, my expression turned cold.
“What are you doing here?” I walked quickly over to them, instinctively looking around for Landon. But he wasn’t there.
